For over 20 years, Invest in Kids has been committed to improving the health and well-being of vulnerable young children and families throughout Colorado. We bring research-based, proven programs into communities across the state, focusing our efforts on meeting the specific needs of children in low-income families. It is our hope to see every child in Colorado thrive, and we partner with community leaders, care providers, and donors to work toward this goal. Invest in Kids oversees implementation of three programs in the state of Colorado. The Nurse-Family Partnership® is a relationship-based program that partners highly-trained professional nurses with vulnerable first-time mothers and their babies. The program transforms lives through improved pregnancy outcomes, promotion of child health and development, and the encouragement of economic self-sufficiency for families. Invest in Kids selected Nurse-Family Partnership as our first program because of its life-changing impact for mothers and babies, demonstrated through long-term, rigorous scientific research. The Incredible Years® (IY) is an early childhood emotional and social health program designed to increase a child’s success at school and at home by promoting positive parent, teacher, and child relationships. The program improves school performance, reduces child behavior problems, promotes positive and consistent discipline, and supports caregivers through a holistic approach involving children, parents, and teachers. Child First® (CF) is a national, evidence-based, two-generation model that works with young children and families, providing intensive, home-based services.

This year was the 25th Annual Jane-a-Thon — the longest running Colorado ski and snowboard fundraising event — supporting Invest in Kids to help improve the health and well-being of Colorado's youngest children and families. Last Friday a group of Hyder employees—Matt Huelskamp, Lori Helderlein, Jacob Walters, Matt Johns, Robbie Miller, Scott Miller, Preston Boyd, Brian Archibald, and Ben Johns—participated the 25th Annual Jane-A-Thon, a two day skiing event at Mary Jane / Winter Park that benefits the non-profit Invest in Kids. Invest in Kids raised $358,400 at this year's Jane-A-Thon. The Hyder team was responsible for $16,120 of that total. Lori won the award (a new pair of skis) for most individual donations and Hyder won the award for most funds raised by a "medium" sized team (less than 25 participants). This year, we had twice as many Hyder folks complete the bump challenge – completing all 16 bump runs at Mary Jane (nearly 25,000 vertical feet): Preston, Robbie, Matt H, Matt J, Ben, Brian, Scott, and Jacob. Invest in Kids (IIK) is a local nonprofit organization working to ensure every Colorado child has a strong start in life. IIK works tirelessly to adopt, implement, and scale proven programs that have the greatest long-term impact on young children and families experiencing poverty, working to improve the health and well-being of 14,000 children and families each year.
