As Insight eagerly awaits the arrival of our Summer Analysts next week, we recognize the responsibility we have to develop the next generation of investors who will have the opportunity to work with thousands of software leaders throughout their careers. At the core of our responsibility is fostering kind leadership. Insight Partners' Managing Director and COO Ian Sandler knows a thing or two about the role that kind leadership plays in nurturing and supporting emerging leaders and changemakers. In addition to working with young investors at Insight, Ian and his wife Mackenzie founded Riley's Way Foundation to provide 3,500+ young people across the U.S. with leadership development training that’s rooted in kindness and connection. In a piece for Fortune, Ian shares why investing in today’s emerging leaders with kindness, authenticity, and growth opportunities is one of the best investments we can make — both for the individual and the societies that they will uplift. “Ideas are worth nothing, but execution is worth something.” So says Christopher Ahlberg, CEO and cofounder of cybersecurity company Recorded Future. Founded in 2009, Recorded Future is now used by 30 governments globally and more than half of Fortune 100 companies. “Our mission matters a lot to the 1,000 people who work here. They stick around because we give them interesting problems to solve, they get to work with other great people, and because we work to secure the world with intelligence.” In 2019, Insight bought the company for $780M. Since the deal, the business has grown revenues fivefold. “It’s been a pleasure to have a front-row seat to their success,” says Thomas Krane, managing director at Insight. “For three years, [Christopher] gave us his vision for the market and how Recorded Future would fare, and he always lived up to his promises.” What’s next for Recorded Future? “More revenue. More people. More AI,” says Ahlberg. Learn more about Recorded Future’s mission for global safety and security: https://lnkd.in/eZFcZ9_B #venturecapital #founder #startup #ScaleUp

At cybersecurity company Prelude, the motto is: “Everything matters.” “There shouldn’t be a comma out of place in our communications,” says cofounder and CEO Spencer Thompson. “If you imbue excellence into everything, you show customers and partners that you really care.” Founded in 2020, Prelude can analyze cybersecurity threats and generate protection in under five minutes. The technology uses AI to anticipate and neutralize not only the individual attack but also future variations. Prelude raised a $24M Series A in April 2022 from multiple investors, including Insight Partners. According to Managing Director Stephen Ward, who led the investment, “Once people see Prelude’s technology in action, they are convinced. It’s like watching a kid hear for the first time after surgery.” Thompson didn’t rush to spend his Series A capital — he spent six months honing and tempering a precise strategy that could give Prelude the edge on cybercriminals. “For me, you earn the right to spend capital as you unlock new opportunities and de-risk your strategy,” he says. What’s next for Prelude? “Radical growth,” says Thompson. Learn more about Prelude’s vision and journey to scale: https://lnkd.in/e64A48CP #venturecapital #founder #startup #cybersecurity #ScaleUp

“Sometimes you just have to ask yourself: ‘If I don’t do this, who will?’” So says Allister Furey, CEO and cofounder of Sylvera, who has been on a mission to reimagine carbon credits alongside cofounder Samuel Gill since 2020. When Furey first dug deeper into the world of carbon offsets, he found very little regulatory oversight and a strong commercial incentive to make untrue claims: “I knew that if we could create a rating that was accurate, independent and trusted, the market could grow at pace.” But Sylvera is more than just a rating agency for carbon — it is accelerating climate action. “Our customers make investments that turn into real action on the ground, changing lives, and helping preserve the environment,” says Furey. Supporting the pioneers tackling climate change is vital if we are to meet the global goal of reaching net zero by 2050, explains Nicole Shimer, principal at Insight Partners. “Allister cares about the issues, knows a ton about the space, and has built an incredible business that is helping to save the world.” Learn more about how Sylvera is helping organizations and governments get on track to net zero: https://lnkd.in/ezDpSrqR #venturecapital #founder #startup #climatetech

At Insight, we believe deeply in the transformative power of technology and the companies and visionaries who drive it forward. The mission of Onsite, Insight's growth engine, is to assist these brilliant companies in scaling up to their full potential—and that includes unlocking new avenues for growth, visibility, and capital access by going public.   Yesterday we hosted our Path to IPO Summit for our portfolio companies in partnership with Nasdaq and NYSE, two pillars of innovation and enterprise. With nearly 30 years of experience gleaned from supporting the exits of 55+ companies, Insight knows what it takes to achieve a smooth and successful IPO. The day started on a high note with Insight Managing Director Hilary Gosher ringing Nasdaq's Opening Bell alongside colleagues from Insight's investment and Onsite teams. Each ring of this bell reverberates the impact our portfolio companies have on the world—creating jobs, fostering economies, and improving lives through technology.   Throughout the summit, our portfolio companies had the opportunity to harness the collective wisdom of Insight's network, build key partner relationships, and prepare their teams for one of the most significant moments in a company's history. The day's programming echoed Insight's goal for our companies: to propel them from being market players to market leaders, and one day getting to see them ring the Opening Bell.   Many thanks to our partners and Insight colleagues for making this event a huge success. And to our portfolio companies—we're honored to be part of your ScaleUp journey.
