Thank you to Georgetown University Law Center alumnus Harry Coker (L’92), National Cyber Director, for stopping by the Truman Bowling Alley in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building to wish our Tech LLM 2024 grads congratulations! https://lnkd.in/evvDG_YE Director Coker shared thoughts on his current role and his path there, noting that Georgetown Law’s many tech offerings and the Tech Institute did not exist when he attended — and that he is so glad they do now. Thank you also to LLM graduate Patrick F. Kyhos for organizing this terrific opportunity — both White House bowling and meeting Director Coker — for his LLM cohort. This was an experience they won’t forget!

Join us, the Center for Digital Ethics at Georgetown University, and the Center on Privacy & Technology at Georgetown Law on Thursday, April 25 from 2:00-3:00 pm for a book talk with Aram Sinnreich and Jesse Gilbert about their new book, The Secret Life of Data: Navigating Hype and Uncertainty in the Age of Algorithmic Surveillance, moderated by Laura DeNardis, Ph.D. In their book, the authors build on this basic premise: no matter what form data takes, and what purpose we think it's being used for, data will always have a secret life. How this data will be used, by other people in other times and places, has profound implications for every aspect of our lives—from our intimate relationships to our professional lives to our political systems. The book talk will be held in Car Barn 311 on the Georgetown University Main Campus.
