GBMC HealthCare, Inc. is a private, not-for-profit corporation that owns and operates Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC), a regional community hospital in Towson, Maryland, two miles north of Baltimore City. GBMC HealthCare is comprised of GBMC, GBMC Health Partners, Greater Baltimore Health Alliance, the GBMC Foundation and Gilchrist. GBMC Health Partners is a collective of more than 300 primary care providers, specialists, advanced practice clinicians, and hundreds of support staff, all working together to care for our community. The GBMC Foundation coordinates fundraising for the healthcare network. Gilchrist is Maryland’s leading nonprofit provider of serious illness and end-of-life care. The Mission of GBMC is to provide medical care and service of the highest quality to each patient and to educate the next generation of clinicians, leading to health, healing and hope for the community. Each month, we encourage employees to recognize their colleagues for their exceptional efforts to help the organization achieve better health, better care, least waste, and more joy. Recently, Avery Gertz, Postpartum Doula, was recognized by Alexis Schultz and was selected as a Peer-to-Peer winner. “Avery is an exceptional employee. I met Avery recently when attending a meeting in the Parent Education space. Avery is a certified car seat technician. Avery and I struck up conversation about car seats and how there are so many adjustments that can be made to them. We ended up speaking about my daughters and ultimately set up a meeting to examine the car seats in my vehicle. Avery looked at each seat individually, asked specific questions about each of my children and educated me greatly about the seats that I have and how to adjust them. Avery also empowered me with the education necessary to adjust my daughters’ car seats in my family member’s vehicles. Avery was able to show me simple adjustments that could be easily implemented to maximize my daughters’ safety. Avery's expertise is invaluable to ALL that have the opportunity to interact with her. My experience with Avery speaks to GBMC's vision of providing the care that we would want for our own loved ones. Avery is a valued GBMC colleague that should be recognized for her ability to withhold GBMC's mission. Thank you to Avery for her thorough attention to detail and passion for what she does.
