Here are 6 key things we've focused on at Focusmate. 1️⃣ 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀 It can be tempting to use a brand to hide from the scrutiny of demanding users. We do the opposite, putting our names, faces, & personalities front & center. ⚡ 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗶𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀: Members relate to us as people, not as a faceless corporation, bringing out compassion and reciprocity. 2️⃣ 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘆 & 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 We do our best to explain our reasoning for each choice we make and to own up to our mistakes and shortcomings. ⚡ 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗶𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀: Some failure is inevitable. Give people an explanation and a chance to empathize, and most will be more patient and appreciative. 3️⃣ 𝗙𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 & 𝗦𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 Despite 100s of feature ideas and new competition daily, we've focused on just two things: seamless 1-to-1 body doubling & a culture of support and acceptance. ⚡ 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗶𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀: Doing anything well is hard. Being the best? That requires focus, dedication and excellence. 4️⃣ 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗢𝘄𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺 Most of our team struggles with the problem we solve, giving us a more innate desire to improve the product and an understanding of how to do so. ⚡ 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗶𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀: You will never understand pain better than when you experience it yourself. 5️⃣ 𝗛𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲 The tech world is known for ambition, innovation, vision, and exigence, but 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦? Not exactly. We have chosen to buck that trend. ⚡ 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗶𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀: A deep desire to see others well is impossible to train. It is the "secret sauce" that turns a functional experience into a life-changing one. 6️⃣ 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 Last but not least, we are generous wherever we can be, from pricing, to customer service attention, to offering scholarships to folks that need them. ⚡ 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗶𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀: As useful as a product can be, utility can never trump the value of connection and feeling that someone (or someones) truly cares. — So there you have it. Is this a "recipe for a successful business"? I couldn't say. (I'm sure these values have cost us at times.) But I do know this: These values have made it a helluva lot more rewarding to be part of what we're building, and that is reason enough. P.S.
