  • Saturday was the first day of the Atlantic hurricane season, and this year’s season is predicted to be above normal! #FLETC encourages everyone near the coast to plan and prepare for upcoming storm surges, evacuation zones, and emergency alerts. There is still time to prepare during the six-month hurricane season, which runs from June 1 to November 30 each year. Here are a few additional tips to help prepare and take action before, during, and after a hurricane: - Create an emergency communication plan - Have emergency supplies in your home, at your work, and in your car - Check your insurance coverage - Know your community’s evacuation plan - Listen to local officials Remember to plan for pets, medications, and other essentials. For more information, visit https://www.ready.gov/, and download the FLETC Mobile App for notifications.

  • #FollowFriday. The Environmental Protection Agency’s Criminal Investigation Division (EPA CID) is the #lawenforcement division within EPA that focuses on criminal conduct that threatens people's health and the environment. EPA CID’s special agents are highly trained officers who make arrests for federal offenses against the nation’s environmental and federal laws, protecting our environments, such as air, water, and land resources. Some cases investigated by CID involve the environment or individual(s) harmed, including illegal disposal of hazardous waste, illegal discharges to water in the U.S., and illegal air emissions. #FLETC is proud to be a training partner with 127 federal law enforcement agencies one of which is the EPA CID!

  • Yesterday morning, #FLETC completed the Murph Challenge with Deputy Director Kai Munshi! “Our freedom comes at a great cost, often paid by our military heroes who make the ultimate sacrifice. Events like this morning are meant to keep their memories alive, honor their sacrifice, and remind us to appreciate the precious gift of liberty” said Deputy Director Munshi. Deputy Director Munshi, along with FLETC and Partner Organization staff, gathered together at Glynco Track 215 to pay tribute to our fallen military heroes by participating in the challenge. The Murph workout was named after Navy SEAL Lt. Michael P. Murphy, who was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2005. After his death, he was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his bravery. This daily workout was a favorite exercise of Lt. Murphy. The Hero workout of the day is meant to be challenging. It is a tribute to the sacrifice that first responders and military have made. The Murph Challenge is not just a physical test, but a mental and emotional one. The Murph Challenge is a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by our military and a testament to the strength and resilience of the human spirit. #takethechallenge #murphchallenge

  • #ProfessionalSpotlight “Save lives and protecting people who could not protect themselves,” is what motivated Glenn DeMar to start his Law Enforcement career. As a Section Chief of the Angel Watch Center, he retired from HSI in April 2021 and began working for #FLETC as a Use of Force Instructor. There are many aspects DeMar enjoys about his job such as “Teaching law enforcement officers (LEOs) how to articulate their actions in use of force encounters in a manner which simplistically conveys to the listener/reader the totality of circumstances and their perception of the facts at the moment they used force.” To read full article, click ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gapSq5En #LawEnforcement

  • #FLETCNeverForgets Border Patrol Agent Robert M. Hotten, Customs and Border Protection (CBP), U.S. Border Patrol (USBP), who died in the line of duty on October 6, 2019. Agent Hotten suffered a fatal heart attack while attempting to locate a group of seven suspected illegal aliens in Mount Washington, south of Patagonia, Arizona. Agent Hotten and two other agents went to the area after a ground sensor was activated at 1:00 p.m. indicating that seven subjects were in the area. During the search, one of the subjects were taken into custody. The agents began a search for Agent Hotten when he failed to respond to radio transmissions. He was found unresponsive with a head injury, possibly from falling on rocks, at approximately 4:15 p.m. Due to the remote and rugged nature of their location, they were unable to immediately move him for transport. The agents performed CPR and provided medical aid for more than two hours until he could be carried down the steep mountainside. He was flown to a hospital in Nogales where he was pronounced dead. Agent Holten had served with the U.S. Border Patrol for 10 years. The Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers’ Graduates Memorial honors FLETC basic training graduates such as Border Patrol Agent Robert M. Hotten, who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our nation since FLETC’s inception in 1970. We remember. #DHS #FLETC #EndofWatch #LawEnforcement U.S. Customs and Border Protection #USBP
