This June, the FAA published our annual wildlife strike report. While it is impossible to eliminate all strikes between aircraft and animals, data has helped us mitigate damaging strikes on or near airports. Read the report at https://bit.ly/3VG1aCx (PDF). Pilots: Your voluntary reporting helps identify trends and assists with wildlife hazard management for all aviation. Visionary Training Resources Virtual Reality | LR-JET SIC | Colorado Aeronautical Board, Officer and State Representative for Pilot Organizations | Past President Women in Aviation International Mile High / CFII
What a team! These FAA instructors offered three and a half days of valuable hypoxia training to Colorado pilots. We welcomed a range of people from airline pilots to student pilots to ATC. Five subjects at a time underwent five minutes in the FAA’s portable reduced oxygen training enclosure, or PROTE, for their expertly engineered simulated flight to FL280. Each person left remembering how their bodies and minds react to a lack of oxygen, and how theirs and others’ piloting abilities are adversely affected. On behalf of the Colorado Aeronautical Board and all of our state’s pilot organizations, thanks and kudos to all the pilots who drove and flew in for their reserved half hour to experience their unique hypoxia symptoms. This invalueable training doesn’t come around that often and for free. I had 184 registered for the 3.5 days. Many thanks to Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum for hosting us in the amazing Exploration of Flight hangar and also for offering to host us and provide electricity to the PROTE again. WOTR EOF is an educational aviation adventure haven every Colorado aviator and future aviator should visit and support. Huge shout out to the team at Centennial Airport operations for the powerful and timely unload and reload of the shipping container holding the portable reduced oxygen training enclosure, which came straight from and went straight back to Oklahoma City FAA HQ on a truck.
