If you work in a healthcare organization, it’s essential to understand HIPAA and all of its revisions in order to maintain trust with your patients. The HIPAA Omnibus Rule was enacted in 2013 to help mitigate security risks related to the growing number of cyber threats targeting healthcare data. It incorporates elements of GINA to expand the definition of PHI to include genetic information. And it also used details from the HITECH Act to hold business associates (non-healthcare entities that use healthcare data) more accountable for securing sensitive information. Learn more about the HIPAA Omnibus Rule and how to maintain compliance in our article linked below.

Pronouns can be a bit of a hot topic these days, but we use pronouns all the time, often without even thinking about them. The pronoun "she" often refers to women, the pronoun "he" often refers to men, and the pronoun "they" is often used to refer to a nonbinary person or someone whose gender you do not know. What do you think of when you hear the words “sexual harassment?” Maybe you think of someone inappropriately touching a coworker, leering at them, or making sexual comments about their body. It may seem like sexual harassment is more likely to take place in person, but workplace harassment can still happen in a company practicing remote work full- or part-time. Employee education is one of the most important measures to take in order to avoid harassment in the remote workplace. EasyLlama’s Sexual Harassment Prevention Training even includes a specific course version focused on online and remote workplace harassment. Learn more about providing effective training for your remote workers with the guide linked in our comments.
