The uneven distribution of AI’s benefits across societies and economies is exacerbating domestic and global inequalities. It is also posing significant challenges to the democratic governance of technology and the capacity for future innovation. To tackle this issue, the DPGA Secretariat's Lea Gimpel has worked in partnership with the Open Knowledge Foundation, Open Future Foundation,Centrum für Europäische Politik and MicroSave Consulting (MSC) to co-author a policy brief that makes recommendations for actions #G7 policymakers can take to ensure the benefits of AI's use and implementation are globally equitable. The Kingdom of #Lesotho marked a significant milestone in their #digitaltransformation journey by joining the global #50in5 campaign, a country-led advocacy campaign. By 2028, the 50-in-5 campaign will have helped 50 countries design, launch, and scale components of their digital public infrastructure (#DPI). Joining 50-in-5 emphasizes their commitment to implementing safe, inclusive and interoperable #DPI to improve residents’ lives and accelerate the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (#SDGs). Lesotho is the 14th country to announce participation in 50-in-5, which already includes #Bangladesh, #DominicanRepublic, #Estonia, #Ethiopia, #Guatemala, #Malawi, #Moldova, #Norway, #Senegal, #SierraLeone, #Singapore, #SriLanka, and #Togo. All participating countries will work together to share learnings and best practices that can help inform each other's digital public infrastructure implementation journeys.
