Our friends at Out & Equal shared the 2024 pride guide to help others radiate pride all year long by elevating, celebrating, and uplifting the LGBTQ+ communities to foster greater #Inclusion in the workplace. The Pride Guide is designed to: + Spotlight the joy, beauty, and resilience of the LGBTQ+ community and highlight their remarkable contributions within the workplace and beyond. + Illuminate the power and value of diversity, inclusion, and belonging, particularly the innovation they unlock. + Support organizations and the changemakers within them with the tools they need to bring inclusive conversations and celebrations into the workplace during June and throughout the year. + Guide organizations in building environments rich in inclusion and belonging where individuals can show up authentically and thrive. Disability:IN’s APAC conference is featured on Google’s annual diversity report 👏👏👏 A big thank you to Jo, Zsanett, and all the friends at Google for hosting this conference and featuring our partnership. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to contribute a quote that was highlighted in the report. "I always get very nervous disclosing a disability to a new employer. It’s a double-edged sword: if you disclose, and it can feel like people think you’re weird or you get a label attached to you. If you don’t disclose, it can feel like people think you’re weird anyway." - Victoria O'Rear We love this story from our corporate partners at Northrop Grumman, highlighting the journey of Victoria O'Rear, a talented #ActuallyAutistic professional who found her place to thrive at Northrop Grumman. From leading the expansion of a #Neurodiversity internship program and being accepted into Disability:IN's Early Career Accelerator Program, her story emphasizes the power of #DisabilityInclusion and the inherent value of embracing diverse perspectives. Kudos to Northrop Grumman for staying committed to and embracing #Neuroinclusion to help foster a workplace that supports all employees with disabilities! Disability:IN is proud that Jeff Wissel was able to participate and contribute to such a meaningful conversation at Deloitte's 2024 Chief DEI Officer Forum to share his lived experience as a blind professional in the workplace. His time on the panel highlights the importance of storytelling and active allyship to foster workplaces that embrace an uncovering culture. Thank you to Deloitte for hosting us and to fellow panelists Guylaine Saint Juste (of NABA INC.), Damian Rivera (of ALPFA), and Anna Mok (of Ascend) for providing their perspectives during the conversation! You can check out a few scenes from day three by checking out Joanne Stephane's post below!

Principal, Human Capital @ Deloitte Consulting Executive Director, Deloitte’s DEI Institute Making work better for humans, and humans better at work.

We had a powerful Day 3 of Deloitte’s 2024 Chief DEI Officer Forum. I had the privilege of facilitating the “Leading an Uncovering culture” panel discussion to kick us off. Panelists Guylaine Saint Juste of NABA INC., Damian Rivera of ALPFA, Jeff Wissel of Disability:IN, and Anna Mok of Ascend, each leads organizations whose missions include empowering individuals and collaborating with organizations to drive accessibility and equity. Their stories of covering and of their journey to create conditions that reduce the demand for covering resonated—they were a poignant reminder of the interconnectedness of our experiences and the profound impact colleagues and leaders can have on driving shifts in organizational culture through intentional behaviors, conscious storytelling, and active allyship. Andrew Gordon led us through an interactive exercise on how to reframe narratives. Building on the concepts learned from previous sessions, the audience worked together to develop a practical narrative that incorporated all the key elements of a strong story. Kashima Atwood, Leader of the #DEIInstitute, moderated a panel with Tulaine M., John Rice, Ellen McClain, and Samantha Tweedy. It was an insightful conversation that emphasized the importance of #nonprofit organizations and corporations working together to drive and sustain equitable outcomes within society. Lastly, we were extremely fortunate to have Brandon Wolf deliver the closing keynote at the #CDEIOForum. His compelling and moving story underscored the power of community and the immense potential we hold when we recognize and use our individual power to make change and unite—the collective #Powerofi. As I reflect on this year’s Forum, I find myself grateful, revitalized, teeming with new ideas, and with a reinforced sense of connection. Our ending exercise reminded us that as we do the hard, and sometimes lonely work of #DEI, we can wield the power of narrative, resilience of community, and clarity of purpose towards a more equitable future. "Anything that you're learning here today is to help you do better in the future." Is change really all that difficult? It's a question we find ourselves asking time and time again, and one that our next guest Becky Kekula has grappled with over the course of her life. Born with achondroplasia, the most common type of short-limbed dwarfism, Becky has made her life’s work to influence authentic portrayals of people with disabilities in the media and in society, having worked in film and television for many years before founding the charity DisABILITY, and heading another, Disability:IN as DEI Senior Director. She is also a graduate of the American Express Leadership Academy 2023, where we were all inspired by her infallible energy, and her take on the realities of fighting for change – big and small. Episode 5 of 'In Pursuit of Good Leadership' with Adirupa Sengupta is available now!
