We are thrilled to share the incredible strides made by Theseus AI, using exclusive Defined.ai training data, in fine-tuning speech-to-text technology for the financial sector. Last year, we partnered with RunPod to provide AI Startups working with text-to-speech, speech-to-text models, and those fine-tuning LLMs the opportunity to access enterprise-grade conversational speech and text datasets. These datasets are often too expensive for smaller teams to purchase from ethical sources. 83% of people who have been using note taking software in the Finance sector have a problem: they have to go over the (mis-)transcription and spend a lot of time correcting the source. Financial Services is about numbers, therefore perfection. Depending on the sector you are working on, vocabulary can be really specific, and open source models are usually trained on really broad data, with no real link to sector specifics. By partnering with Defined.ai, Theseus had access to premium financial specifics audio database, in French and English, with more than 400 hours of transcribed audio. Quality data like this doesn’t come cheap, and a perpetual license was out of Theseus league. By leveraging Runpod’s GPU cloud we were able to offer this data to them without the need to break the bank. This collaboration not only accelerated Theseus project but also demonstrated the power of community and technology working hand. The real game changer, however, was access to Defined.ai’s premium financial-specific data. This collaboration slashed their Word Error Rate (WER) from 18% to a breathtaking 1.7%. Precision in finance is critical, and this partnership not only enhanced their models but revolutionized their accuracy and efficiency, setting new standards. This journey proves when startups get access to top-notch tools and data, innovation doesn’t just speed up; it leaps. The future is now! 🚀   This Tuesday, the 14th, our Senior Strategic Partnerships & Alliances Manager, Sebastião Villax, shared the stage at the 33rd Digital Business Congress, organized by APDC, with Paulo Dimas – Vice-President of Innovation, Unbabel, on the panel “Portugal's PRR: Showcasing AI for the Future”, to talk about ethical Artificial Intelligence.   Here are some points he highlighted during his participation:   🌐 To ensure that any model can be well trained, with responsible and ethical use, everything starts with data. 🌐 Any AI model, if not continually updated with new data, becomes obsolete. 🌐 The gap in AI development and investment between Europe and the US is significant. AI for a more sustainable and equitable future. 🌍 Among other themes, this was the main point of our CEO and founder, Daniela Braga, PhD participation at the 9th Multi-stakeholder Forum on Science, Technology, and Innovation for the Sustainable Development Goals at the United Nations Trusteeship Council Chamber, in New York. She addressed some specific challenges that we must face, such as: 1️⃣ Incentivize investments in AI that contribute to the SDGs, particularly in combating climate change; 2️⃣ Promote education on ethical data sourcing practices and ensure proper consent for data usage and inclusion of the content creators industry in the AI ecosystem. 3️⃣ Foster diversity in AI development to mitigate unconscious biases and address real-world challenges effectively. 4️⃣ Establish frameworks for responsible AI evaluation and deployment.
