    On this day in 1954, Burger King was founded in Miami, Florida - and, the rest is history! From introducing iconic products like the flame-grilled Whopper sandwich, the Original Chicken Sandwich and Chicken Fries, to letting Guests "Have It Your Way", and operating more than 19,000 locations across the globe, we're incredibly proud of our history and grateful for all of the Guests, Team Members, and Franchisees who have made this brand what it is today, 70 years later.     As we celebrate Asian American Pacific Islander Month this May, we’re excited to spotlight Bonnie Hemrajani. Bonnie has been a Burger King Franchisee since Oct. 2021, acquiring 15 restaurants across New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. While Bonnie joined the brand with no experience in the quick-service restaurant (QSR) industry, she has always had an entrepreneurial spirit and was drawn to the strong history of BK and the affordability and reliability that it provides to Guests. Now, three years later, Bonnie has grown to have a deep appreciation for the brand’s leadership team, the strong commitment BK has to learn and to grow, and the focus on operational excellence and Franchisee profitability. As a female Franchisee, Bonnie is proud to provide representation to her team and the BK Franchise system, and works hard to promote capable women into leadership positions and help to build their confidence that they can achieve great things and grow within the brand.     It’s official! As of today, Carrols Corporation is part of the Burger King U.S. and Restaurant Brands International (RBI) family.  In January, we announced plans to acquire our largest U.S. Franchisee, Carrols, which includes a portfolio of more than 1,000 Burger King across 23 states and 59 Popeyes restaurants across 6 states. The goal of the acquisition is to accelerate the modernization of more than 600 Carrols restaurants over the next five years, with the help of a $500M investment from RBI, and to refranchise the majority of these locations to new and existing Franchisees that bring passion, care and operational expertise to the business.    This is all part of our strategy to Reclaim the Flame – from the $400M investment announced in 2022, to the additional $300M investment announced earlier this month toward accelerating our image to 85-90% modern image by the end of 2028, and now the acquisition of Carrols. We are more committed than we’ve ever been to the future of our iconic brand and look forward to giving our Guests a consistently excellent experience when they visit Burger King across the country.

    Today, Burger King announced an additional $300M investment to launch “Royal Reset 2.0”, helping the brand achieve 85-90% modern image across the U.S. by 2028 in partnership with our Franchisees.   This is the latest step in our journey to Reclaim the Flame after announcing an initial $400M investment in 2022, and a further $500M to accelerate the reimaging of more than 600 Carrols owned Burger King restaurants following the pending acquisition of Carrols. Tom Curtis, President of Burger King North America, commented, “We are committed to giving our Guests the very best experience in all our restaurants and that includes a modern, exciting restaurant image and digital experience that exceeds their expectations. We are working in close partnership with our Franchisees to transform our restaurant footprint across the country and reclaim our flame as a leader in the QSR industry."   To learn more: https://lnkd.in/ghuaGR2x

    Thomas McDonald has been with the Burger King brand for 37 years and since opening his first Burger King restaurant in 1987, he has demonstrated a strong commitment to the brand through the development of his restaurants to ensure a great Guest experience. Over the last decade, Tom has been a part of the Image Committee for Burger King, helping to create and influence new visual concepts for restaurant integration. “An attractive look, coupled with the involvement and input of both the Franchisees and Burger King corporate is integral in the successful development of modern imagery”, explains Tom. This collaboration was evident with “Sizzle”, the brand’s new restaurant image and design. Tom played an important role in the development of the “Sizzle” restaurant design, and when asked about his favorite elements, he said, “There are two elements that really stand out – the two-story vestibule with the glass crowns and the use of kiosks for Guests when they walk in.” Tom has three new Sizzle restaurants in the works for 2024 – two remodels and one new build. According to Tom, a modern image goes hand in hand with strong operations. He has noticed that when his team is proud of the environment they work in, it leads to better teamwork and a stronger culture, something he and Steve have worked hard to create within their restaurants. “We want people to feel good about working here and to be proud, which translates to a positive Guest experience.” You Rule, Tom!
