On the podcast this week: Jason Mraz. We recorded this interview live in LA last week, celebrating the 15th anniversary of Jason's 2008 album, We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things. We cover Jason's entire career - from making up songs as a teenager in Mechanicsville, Virginia, to releasing I'm Yours, one of the biggest songs of the 21st century, to touring all over the world, starring on Broadway and even his current run on Dancing With The Stars. Only a few more episodes left in Season 3 of Rock & Roll High School with Pete Ganbarg. Today we welcome founder of the influential independent record label IRS Records and long-time manager of Sting and The Police, as well as Squeeze, The Bangles and others: Miles Copeland. Miles has written a great memoir: Two Steps Forward, One Step Back: My Life In The Music Business which recounts his road to becoming a dominant figure in contemporary music. From being raised in the Middle East by a father who helped form the CIA; to putting together the disastrous StarTruckin 75 tour - the first traveling music festival of its time - which almost bankrupted him; to becoming manager of some of the biggest rock bands in the world; to starting a label that discovered REM, The Go-Go's, The Buzzcocks, Oingo Boingo and more; and even being summoned to the White House by Donald Rumsfeld(!) for advice on how music could help better relations between the US and the Middle East. Outspoken and entertaining, Miles is a great guest. Listen here: https://lnkd.in/gHWXfqT
