Miles has written a great memoir: Two Steps Forward, One Step Back: My Life In The Music Business which recounts his road to becoming a dominant figure in contemporary music. From being raised in the Middle East by a father who helped form the CIA; to putting together the disastrous StarTruckin 75 tour - the first traveling music festival of its time - which almost bankrupted him; to becoming manager of some of the biggest rock bands in the world; to starting a label that discovered REM, The Go-Go's, The Buzzcocks, Oingo Boingo and more; and even being summoned to the White House by Donald Rumsfeld(!) for advice on how music could help better relations between the US and the Middle East.
