A four-year initiative to modernize the day-to-day equipment of active-duty United States Air Force security forces Defenders reached its fifth and final phase recently with the award of a $39 million contract for state-of-the-art Defender gear. Under the Gear for Life Program, it be easier to account for equipment, and Defenders will be able to move from one installation to another with their Model Defender Individual Equipment Kit. This means they will no longer need to have that equipment issued at each installation as they progress in their careers. #defense #defender #securityforces #contract

Information is power...so we have to keep it protected. The Information Protection Office has two primary roles: Information Security, which is the protection of classified information that could potentially have an impact on national security or defense. It is categorized into different levels based on sensitivity: Top Secret, Secret and Confidential. The other program is Industrial Security, which focuses on protective measures to safeguard critical infrastructure, assets and information within industrial settings from cyber threats and physical risks. #information #informationsecurity #security #IT #cyber

#DYK The airborne assault into Normandy, as part of the D-Day allied invasion of Europe in 1944, was the largest use of airborne troops up to that time. Paratroopers of the U.S. 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions, the British 6th Airborne Division, the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion, and other attached Allied units took part in the assault. Numbering more than 13,000 men, the paratroopers were flown from bases in southern England to the Cotentin Peninsula in approximately 925 C-47 airplanes. AFWERX the innovation arm of the Department of the Air Force and a directorate within the Air Force Research Laboratory, employs a thorough due diligence process at the core of its investment strategy for safeguarding national security interests. The intent of the due diligence program is to protect DAF equities from undue or adversarial influence, with the primary concern being the potential risk or leakage that results in intellectual property theft. Public Law 117-183, enacted on June 27, 2023, mandated the establishment and implementation of a due diligence program to assess security risks posed by small businesses seeking federally funded awards. This law requires the heads of federal agencies with Small Business Innovation Research, or SBIR, or Small Business Technology Transfer, or STTR, programs, such as AFWERX, to establish and execute such a program. #security #defense #contracts #duediligence

The Mission Concept Program, sponsored by the Air Force Research Laboratory Space Vehicles Directorate and which falls under the University Nanosatellite Program began in 1999 and has collaborated with 53 universities and 8,000 students since its inception. It will partner once again with NASA’s CubeSat Launch Initiative through the Mission Concept Program to alleviate the typically high knowledge and capability barriers to entry for universities trying to participate in NASA and AFRL missions. This collaboration will also prepare the participants for the next UNP nanosatellite cycle in 2025 and future CSLI cycles. #students #space #USAF #defense #STEM
