Louisiana's original craft brewery located in Abita Springs, LA.

About us

Founded in 1986, Abita was the first craft brewery to open in the Southeast. Today, we produce 160,000 barrels of beer annually in a range of great tasting, unpretentious styles including Abita Amber, Purple Haze, and Wrought Iron IPA. Located just north of New Orleans, we recently completed a three-year, $30 million state-of-the-art expansion of the brewery that will increase our capacity to 400,000 barrels while introducing groundbreaking environmental advancements to the brewing process. Abita uses only the finest ingredients – British and North American malted barley, German and American yeast strains, Pacific Northwest hops and the pure artesian water of Abita Springs.

We're featured in Vogue ! Earlier this month, we partnered with KREWE to help them host their 2nd annual Krawfish Boil in New York City! The New Orleans based eyewear brand teamed up with Memorial Sloan Kettering and donated a portion of all ticket proceeds to cancer research. They served over 2,000 lbs of crawfish while guests enjoyed live music and Louisiana refreshments of course! "The sun always brings New Yorkers out on a Saturday, but not to this extent. Over the weekend, luxury eyewear brand Krewe put the fun in fundraiser and turned Gansevoort Street into the scene of a day party that would make The Big Easy proud." It's always a good time when you work for beer... Our annual employee crawfish boil was a hit! Everyone was a winner with a boil like this, but especially Cody Simons, Jordan Shively, and Kyle Barfield. Cody and Jordan won the cornhole tournament and Kyle was our Abita All Star award winner this quarter. The Abita All Star award is given to the employee who has made every effort to portray Abita Brewing Company in the best light. They represent the company and every team member to the best of their ability according to the Abita All Star ideals: Accountability, Badass work ethic, Integrity, Teamwork, and Adaptability. It's easy to celebrate when you've got a krewe like this! Until next year y'all!

We love getting a shoutout on the iconic Today Show! "Chef, restaurateur and former "Top Chef" contestant Kwame Onwuachi is stopping by the TODAY kitchen to share some of his go-to comfort food recipes. He shows us how to make two staples of his New York City upbringing: halal cart-style chicken over rice and his mom's saucy, Creole-spiced shrimp, also over rice." We've got some pretty damn good beer! The Beer Connoisseur recently reviewed our Limited Brew, Vanilla Triple Dog and it scored a sweet 88/100 by the esteemed judges. Reviewer Dan Preston said: "Truly an imperial version of a brown with all the typical flavors but amped up a notch and further enhanced by the addition of the vanilla. Tasty and rich with lots of caramel and vanilla, without being too sweet or overly vanilla-y. A great beer with dessert or as a night cap, but not so sweet that it can’t be enjoyed anytime." We always strive to produce quality products and love to have them recognized by the incredible judges at Beer Connoisseur. Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/e5Ua2At9 Vanilla Triple Dog by Abita Brewing Co. is an Imperial Triple Brown Ale with Vanilla, which best fits in the BJCP 2021 category 30D, Specialty Spice Beer, as it not only has the addition of vanilla (typically an ingredient featured in Style 30A, Spice, Herb or Vegetable beer), but is also an imperial version of a brown ale (Style 19C, American Brown Ale). This style is home to any SHV beers that don’t quite fit a classic style. This beer pours a dark brown color with a big foamy tan head that lasts for days. Despite the dark color, there is good clarity around the edges where I can see light. The aroma is sweet and complex with strong notes of milk chocolate, vanilla, caramel, burnt sugar, rich bread crusts, raisin and black cherry. Behind all the malt, there is very little hops and a touch of alcohol. The flavor is similar, but with stronger notes. The rich melanoidins really come through in the flavor and linger in the back of the mouth. Deep brown bread crusts, chocolate, strong caramel are all present, and it is reminiscent of a glass of chocolate bread pudding with a dollop of French vanilla ice cream and caramel drizzle on top. The vanilla also comes through as toasted marshmallows. There are low, pleasant warming notes of alcohol, but the ABV is well hidden otherwise. It has a velvety smooth mouthfeel with a medium-full body and medium carbonation. Truly an imperial version of a brown with all the typical flavors but amped up a notch and further enhanced by the addition of the vanilla. Tasty and rich with lots of caramel and vanilla, without being too sweet or overly vanilla-y. A great beer with dessert or as a night cap, but not so sweet that it can’t be enjoyed anytime.
