Toronto, Ontario (June 14, 2022) - Geotab, a global leader in IoT and connected transportation, today announced that it has received two 2021 Google Cloud Customer Awards for Cross Industry and Sustainability. Geotab was recognized for its achievements with Google Cloud, having demonstrated innovative thinking by applying data and analytics solutions to the transportation sector, business transformation and lasting benefits to their organization, customers or users, and the world.

“As governments around the world continue to implement new legislation to help improve the sustainability and safety of our roads, connected vehicle technology remains a key technology in helping to enable and support this transition," said Neil Cawse, President and CEO of Geotab. “We are proud to offer solutions that address the current and future needs of drivers and the transportation industry. Working with Google Cloud allows us to maximize our business, social and human impact as we work to reduce emissions and carbon footprints, create safer streets and intersections, and enable the rollout of electric vehicle infrastructure.”

This is the second consecutive year Geotab has been recognized as a Cross-Industry winner for its ability to demonstrate innovative thinking, technical excellence, and transformation with Google Cloud. This year's recognition stems from the launch of its new line of business Geotab Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). Recognizing the costly and complex challenges customers face when trying to improve the efficiency, safety and sustainability of their roads and transportation systems, Geotab ITS launched its first transportation analytics platform, “Altitude”, in September of 2021. Powered by Google Cloud, Altitude now serves its rapidly growing user base, which includes agencies such as the Southern California Association of Government (SCAG) and NYC DOT and enables government entities to bolster city planning and improve transportation networks with actionable and privacy-driven data insights.

As the world's largest EV telematics provider and signatory of the Climate Pledge, Geotab is committed to supporting the reduction of carbon emissions in the transportation sector. Geotab’s sustainability-focused tools and solutions, including the Electric Vehicle Self Assessment (EVSA), received Google Cloud's Award for Sustainability in 2021. Leveraging the Google Cloud platform, the EVSA tool provides data-driven EV recommendations for a wide range of businesses and governments during the various stages of transition to fleet electrification.

Throughout 2021, Geotab has continued to build relationships with critical partners in the transportation ecosystem, including vehicle manufacturers, charging infrastructure providers, governments and others to enable safer and sustainable transportation systems. Geotab is a member of Google Cloud's partnership initiative and collaborates to help businesses and governments accelerate their sustainability programs and inform decisions on future growth.

“The Google Cloud Customer Awards are an opportunity to recognize the most innovative, technically advanced, and transformative cloud deployments across industries, from around the globe, built on our platform,” said Kirsten Kliphouse, President, Google Cloud Americas, Google Cloud. “I want to congratulate Geotab on achieving this award and serving as an innovator for the industry.”
