The admin bar is the toolbar at the top of your screen when logged into your WordPress.com account. This guide explains the options available in the admin bar and how to make changes to it.

The Admin Bar appears when you are logged into your WordPress.com account and visiting your site or any other WordPress.com hosted websites. The admin bar does not appear at the top of your site to other visitors (unless they are also logged into a WordPress.com account.)
Select the appropriate tab for your admin interface style:
The admin bar appears as a black bar at the top of the screen:
The options appearing from left to right are:
- My Site(s): This will take you to your dashboard, where you’ll find the main menu for editing and managing your site or multiple sites.
- Reader: Visit the Reader to discover new blogs and keep up with the latest posts from sites you follow.
- Write: Click the “Write” button to start a new post on your site. The number next to the button indicates the amount of draft posts. Click the number to view recent drafts.
- Profile: Click the avatar icon to visit your profile, access your account settings, manage your purchases, and more.
- Help Center: Click the question mark icon in the toolbar to access support from WordPress.com.
- Notifications: Click the bell icon to access your account’s notifications area.
The admin toolbar cannot be removed. However, you can:
- Change the color of the admin bar.
- Switch to the WordPress.org toolbar (eligible plans only).
