Answer: Hello, @cloverydreamertt!

Well, we are glad you’re excited about Communities! We’re excited, too. We want to get it out to as many people as quickly as we can, but we’re still in the process of building it. Consider yourself on the shortlist of potential beta testers.

For anyone with a little curiosity about this shiny new feature, you can get up to speed right here at the Help Center.

Thanks for your question, and watch this space, folks.

Hiya!! I know this was brought up in another answer a little while ago, but I thought the idea of creating "custom dashes" for different kinds of things you follow was really fun and helpful!! Is there any possibility of something like that getting rolled out on a larger scale? (Thank you so much!! 😊)

Answer: Hey, @novatheastropirate!

So we can say that we’re looking into it as a possible future feature of Patio, since that has been successful. We should also add that it is more than likely that we’ll work on that when we start tackling a later version of Patio, but it’s certainly on our wish list and we are glad it’s on yours too.

Keep your eyes peeled y’all. You know where you will find news: here at @wip or @changes.

eda0bdedb8ba asked:

Right now, this seems to be the place to submit feature requests for tumblr. Are there any plans to create an actual forum for feature requests (and possibly bug reports) where anyone with a tumblr account could post (preferably not just on Mondays), and duplicate threads could be merged, and there could be some kind of tagging and ticketing system to keep things organized? Sorry for the run-on sentence, but I think this would be especially helpful now that you're shifting more of the platform towards open-source software like StreamBuilder and ActivityPub, since it would help keep things organized not just for your developers but also for any potential open source contributors.

Answer: Hey, @eda0bdedb8ba!

We have actually thought about something similar, and it could be a useful space. The consensus we came to, however, is that it does not make sense for us to move forward with this work at this time, particularly given the range of other projects—we don’t have the bandwidth to look at it properly.

That said, it is hoped we can revisit this in future when we have the time and space to take a better look into it. It could be a great feature, as you outline.

As always, we suggest you keep an eye out here or at @changes for updates. Thanks for your question!

vaguelygenius asked:

Will the new Communities feature include a live chat? And will it be possible to pin a post at the top with a welcome, rules and info? I'm curious as to how this will shape up!

Answer: Hey there, @vaguelygenius!

In short: right now, no live chat. However, we are interested in it, whether it’ll feel needed or not, per se. And we are also looking into some kind of Discord integration instead of building a live chat (again) ourselves.

As for pinning a post: yes! We are playing around with the ideas of an About page, a Community Guidelines page, a Pinned Posts tab/feed, and whether just pinning posts to the main feed makes the most sense.

We will want to play around with these ideas once we’ve got more people using Communities for their own usage. Pinning posts may make a lot of sense for big communities with lots of passers-by, but makes no sense for small communities that really want to use pinned posts as a “highlights” feed.

Thanks for your interest in it! We’re glad to see it and will reach out when it’s time to open it up to more people.
