Developed by doctors to improve the communication issues faced by patients after surgery. There is no easily accessible global standardised follow up routine for surgical patients - and as a result, wound infections and complications make surgery the 3rd greatest contributor to deaths worldwide. Rebuild Trust. Get surgical site infection monitoring right... with a 4-fold strategy - right stakeholder, right metric, right behaviour and right outcome. Encourage our patients to report surgical site infection surveillance through digital tools, so they are actively involved in their own care. Measure SSIS outcome data in a way that enables all stakeholders to see the same metrics. Guide clinician and patient behaviour, so that reporting leads to good post-operative outcomes. Clinicians shouldn't have to shoulder the burden of data collection alone - it should be a partnership with patients, so we can upload relevant data seamlessly to national databases. This will lead to reduction in infection rates, unplanned admissions, ED attendances and improve patient experience and satisfaction. Change behaviours through inclusion - if we collect better data on infection, we should be applauded, not ostracised! Get it right together, so patients trust the care we deliver.
