It takes #AI just five seconds to analyse a video and create additional frames - that's one of the findings of a panel discussion hosted by Caretta Research's Keran Boyd at The Media Production & Technology Show. The power of generative AI is beginning to transform the #media production landscape. Let's dive deeper into some of the key insights from the discussion: 🤖 AI for production: AI has been used for years to perform menial production tasks such as checking file formats or blurring parts of the image. While AI isn’t replacing creative humans (for now), it means teams can be leaner and focus on creative tasks. In the long run, how young talent is nurtured will have to change as the menial tasks being replaced by AI are typically how youngsters would cut their teeth. 🔬 Data is king: AI is built on good data, and to have an algorithm that works, you need good governance to ensure only quality data feeds the algorithm. Managing this requires specialist resources and many media companies are better off outsourcing this to their vendor partners. ♻️ Sustainable future: according to panellist James Taylor, the CO2 of 1-hour of AI generated video is 25,000X greater than if human generated. Before we think about replacing traditionally-generated video, the industry needs to take into account the additional compute and power consumption.
