We support and empower Fife's lone parents and families in need for better todays and brighter tomorrows
About us
Fife Gingerbread supports lone parent, vulnerable and disadvantaged families across Fife. We help those who need help most, and give a voice to those who are not heard. Our ethos is Engage - Support - Progress, working holistically and at a pace that suits the parent and family. In 2017 we reached 30 years of helping families, in that time going from a grassroots organisation to the largest independent families and children support charity in Fife. We actively seek and plug gaps in local provision through various projects, with alleviating child poverty at the core of our work.

This general election make sure you USE YOUR VOTE! Everyone's voice matters, and our partners at The Poverty Alliance have launched a campaign to ensure lower-income voters don't get shut out - please share and ensure you are ready to go to the polls on the 4th of July.
In a democracy, everyone's voice matters equally. So it's completely unjust that so many people on lower incomes get shut out from using their vote. This General Election looks set to be the most unequal for more than six decades, due to a ballooning turnout gap at elections and the growing role of money in British politics, according to a recent report from IPPR. We can help change this. In the run-up to July 4, we will be working hard to raise awareness about how people can register to vote, and our manifesto will aim to put ending the injustice of poverty in our wealthy country at the top of the political agenda.

Last month, Barratt Developments plc East Scotland Buying team rolled up their sleeves and donned their gardening attire to help out at our allotment in Kelty. Sam and the team wanted to learn more about our work, the families we support and our role in communities across Fife, and our Volunteer Co-ordinators made sure they had all the information they needed – and a regular supply of tea and biscuits! The positive experience Barratts staff gained from working with us has led to donations from the head office, and supplies for the allotment from their contacts, all of which have made a real impact on our work. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) can often appear as another ‘tick box exercise’ for businesses, but if given some time and commitment, it can be so worthwhile for everyone! “We had a really fulfilling day and it was great to see the progress we made at the allotment which will contribute to the success of this fantastic charity. Giving back to the communities we build in is extremely rewarding and gives you a sense of pride that you’re improving local services for those that need it” Sam Embrey, Barratt Homes. #VolunteersWeekScot

What a special day on Monday when Fife Gingerbread and Fife International Forum got together for a sunny, funny family day! Lots of crafty makes, roar-some bookbug stories, lego building and STEM experiments, and lots of laughs too! Bringing families together, and engaging with the activities and each other is what it’s all about. With our friends at Fife International Forum, we are delighted that our partnership has given families in Fife the chance to make new connections and find out about different cultures, traditions, and stories. It's such a privilege to have this opportunity, and we are all looking forward to continuing this partnership into the future.

Here at Fife Gingerbread, we value our volunteers' commitment, experience, and skills, which has led to the development of our Volunteer Mentors programme. Four of our long-standing volunteers will now be able to support our newest members, helping them to get the most out of opportunities, keeping in touch, and offering advice. Our team building day has got everyone inspired and looking forward to this next step in our volunteering journey as it's such an important component in the services we provide. Go team! #VolunteersWeekScot
