The Conway Update
Hi! I occasionally post simulations involving Conway’s Game of Life. Each of these are followed up by some curly brackets with some stuff inside em. What do these mean? Lets break them down with an example:
{50x50, 100, 0.4, “Hi!345”}
The first and second terms are simple. Term 1 is just the grid size in [X, Y] form. The second term is just the number of frames are in the gif.
The next term (0.4) is used to scale the initial density of the simulation. 1.0 is an entirely full screen, and 0.0 is an entirely empty screen.
What about that last part? The “Hi!345”? Simple! it’s the seed for the board. For my program, i used seeded randomization, that way if i for any reason want to see a board again, i can! Additionally sometimes it’s funny to see what result a string will produce!
If you ever want to see a specific simulation be sure to send an ask! When sending the ask, you can assume the defaults values going to be:
{50x50, 100, 0.3, “”}
An ask should at the very least request a seed, however if you want specifics for any of the other values please just be sure to say them!
Hope y'all enjoy the simulations!
