You can use Gemini Apps to supercharge your ideas. With a little help from Gemini, you can do things like:

- Create first drafts of outlines, emails, blog posts, poems, and much more
What you need
You can use some features in Gemini Apps without signing in. To use additional features or save your Gemini Apps activity, you’ll need to sign in with a Google Account. Learn more about using Gemini Apps without signing in.
To sign in to Gemini Apps, you need one of the following:
- A personal Google Account.
- If you manage a Family Link account, you can turn off access to Gemini Apps for users under 13 (or the applicable age in your country) in Google Family Link settings.
- A work Google Account with a qualifying Workspace edition. You must also be 18 or over.
- A school Google Account. You must also be 13 (or the applicable age in your country) or over and the service must be enabled by your institution's administrator.
- A supported browser: Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Opera, or Edgium.

- To use gemini.google.com, you need access to a supported browser: Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Opera, or Edgium.

Gemini Apps can make mistakes. When using Gemini Apps, double-check responses and don’t rely on responses from Gemini Apps for professional advice.

- On your computer, go to gemini.google.com.
- In the text box at the bottom, enter your question or prompt.
- Optionally, to add a file or image to your prompt, click Add files
.
- Follow the on screen instructions to add a file or image.
- Click Submit

- To start a new chat, at the top left, click New chat
. If the option isn’t there, first click Menu

Choose the model you want to use
You can choose the model that you want to use for a chat.
Important: To switch between models in Gemini Apps, you must be signed in. Learn how to sign in to Gemini Apps.

To switch between models:
- Go to gemini.google.com.
- At the top under the Gemini logo, click the model name.
- Select what model you want to use for the chat.

Edit prompts, check responses, access resources, & do more
If you want to revise your prompt, you can edit it, and Gemini will regenerate the response.
- To the right of your prompt, click Edit text
.
- Edit your prompt.
- Click Update.
Important: This feature isn't available for responses that Gemini generates using apps.
For some prompts, you can review other drafts that Gemini creates. This option is only available for the latest response.
- Above the response, click View other drafts or Show drafts.
- Click that draft you want to review.
- To copy code from a response: Below the block of code, click Copy

- To generate a chart based on data in a response, like a table: In a follow-up question, ask Gemini to create a chart with that information.

Use Gemini Apps without signing in
On some devices, you can use some Gemini Apps features without signing in your Google Account.
There are some users who can’t use Gemini Apps without signing in. You must sign in to a Google Account to use:
- The Gemini mobile app on an Android device.
- Gemini Apps in the European Economic Area, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
- Certain Gemini Apps features, including any features that need Gemini Apps Activity turned on.
Even when you’re signed out, Google may collect certain data to provide and improve our services, such as:
- Usage data (e.g., the types of questions you ask)
- Technical data (e.g., your IP address, browser type)
- Data to ensure safety and prevent abuse
When signed out, you won’t be able to use features that require Gemini Apps activity to be turned on or advanced capabilities. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Accessing past chats: Your chat history with Gemini Apps won’t be available.
- Personalized responses: Gemini Apps won’t be able to tailor responses based on your past chats or preferences.
- Integration with other Google services: Features that rely on connected apps (like Google Workspace, Google Drive, or other Google services) won’t be available.
- Other features that require account authentication: Features like image generation, Gems, and file upload won’t be available.

Gemini Apps & your location
Gemini Apps may use your location to provide more relevant responses to your prompts. Gemini Apps will use your general location or, if you allow it, your device's precise location. Learn how to manage your location.
Check or update the location the Gemini web app uses for you
In the Gemini web app, your location is shown at the bottom of the menu.
You can select "Update location" to allow the Gemini web app to use your device’s precise location.
