You guys know I don’t blog non-art stuff, but this is important.
The race is VERY tight between Darkwing Duck and Mabel for the next Disney Infinity voter’s choice figure.
In light of some OUTRAGEOUS claims made by Gravity Falls fans that Darkwing is lame and not popular enough to deserve figure status, I say STAY IN YOUR LANE, kids, cuz I’m summoning my not-insignificant follower count to join Team DARKWING!
I love Mabel as much as any GF fan, but she needs to be a twin pack with Dipper.
Darkwing Duck is Disney’s duck superhero. Along with DuckTales, DWD ushered in the new Golden Age of Disney Afternoon cartoons in the early 90’s. It’s no less a great cartoon with great characters just cuz it’s 25 years old. James & my con tables are a magnet for Disney Afternoon fans who are BEGGING for new merch from Disney. He absolutely deserves a place in Disney Infinity’s lineup and would be an amazing fun character to play.

I will have plenty of original headshots of your favorite characters as well as copies of The Darkwing Duck treasury, the “Dangerous” print and Draw-A-Saurus. In addition I will have an all new Darkwing treasury that features the sold out, first 4 issues of the new series. “Orange Is The New Purple” will be available exclusively at NYCC until it’s general release in December. If you can’t make it to AA, ill also be signing copies from 1-2 PM at the Joe Books booth, #968.

The Duck Knight Returns…again!
Darkwing Duck-The Definitively Dangerous Edition is coming this January from Joe Books and Disney. This one-volume edition collects issues 1-16 and the annual of the original series plus an all new epilogue and bonus material.
Aaron Sparrow, the editor and driving force of the DW comics has gone back and painstakingly rewritten the book to bring it in step with the classic Disney Afternoon series. I also had the opportunity to revisit the art and make this edition the true Terror That Flaps In The Night. This omnibus also features the stellar work of Darkwing creator Tad Stones, artist Sabrina Alberghetti, writer Ian Brill, colorists Andrew Dalhouse and Lisa Moore, letterer Deron Bennett and cover artist Amy Mebberson.
The book, featuring the above wrap-around cover, is available to order now from your local comics shop using order number NOV141533. You’ll get the entire story of Darkwing’s return for only $19.99.
But the best news of all is this collection will lead right into an all new Darkwing Duck ongoing series coming in 2015 from Joe Books. Aaron and I have already begun and will give more details as soon as possible.

Daring Duck of Infinity!
As some of you know I’m a huge Disney Infinity fan. Earlier this year there was a poll for the next fan’s choice figure. In an earlier survey, Darkwing Duck was narrowly beaten by Olaf and this time around he was coming in a very close second to Mabel Pines. Now as much as I love me some Gravity Falls, A Darkwing figure would be a dream come true. There were rumors that the voting got rigged and the results may have been tossed. Hopefully they’ll give DW another shot at Infinity-dom.
This was a D23 commission for one of the participants in the Toy Box tournament that was held at the Expo. I think it speaks for us all.

Hi. Thanks for the kind words. First of all, I’m very glad you went in to a business of helping animals. If I wasn’t doing art, that’s probably what I’d be doing. As far as the art, I’d say you’re on the right track doing a few drawings for yourself every day. If you want to get a job with it then you have to start posting those pieces. It’s so much easier now to break into the business than when I first stated. Back then you had to slug your portfolio around and show it face to face. Now the internet has made a wonderful portfolio that anyone can see in an instant. Tumblr isn’t really the place to show off art anymore but I would make an art page on FB, IG or even try that new Artfol app. Post all the time. And post a variety of things, very small amounts of fan art but lots of original characters, backgrounds, sequentials (tell a story), stationary objects, animals anything to show your versatility. Draw your friends. Draw your living space. Draw at work when you have a break. The cream always rises and art directors will find you. No funds needed outside of an internet connection. Good luck and keep me posted.
