This Earth Day we are reminded of our collective responsibility to protect our planet. At Optiver, we are committed to minimising our environmental impact and maintaining carbon neutrality. Through initiatives like the Optiver Foundation’s reforestation project, which saw the planting of over 300,000 trees, we are offsetting our carbon emissions from 1986 to 2020. We have also established a three-step Net Zero strategy, focusing on long-term sustainable solutions to effectively measure, reduce and offset our current and future emissions. At Optiver, we are thrilled to see the Council of the European Union's recognition of the urgent need for more progress on integrating EU capital markets, including in the area of supervision. We have been quite vocal about our support for more integrated supervision of capital markets through the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA). This recognition is a step in the right direction towards ensuring a more connected and efficient European capital market. It's important to continue the conversation around integrated supervision and the benefits it can bring to capital markets and we hope to see this political recognition reflected in the legislative work during the next institutional cycle in Brussels.

Last month we wrapped up Career Kickstarter, our inaugural five-day initiative aimed at final-year Dutch university students.
