I think it’s funny how Merrilee lost her family heirloom down a well but still ended up having a pin to pass down to her child because Maysilee died and left hers to her. how the pin she lost was a hummingbird while the pin she gained was a mockingjay. how hummingbirds are a symbol of good luck yet Merrilee’s little girl ends up giving a mockingjay pin (not a symbol of luck but a symbol of defiance and resistance) to Katniss before her games. how that pin goes on to become a symbol for the rebellion against the capitol itself. how the rebellion was able to catch and overthrow the capitol because of a constant fight rather than the simple act of the opportunity falling into their laps…is this making any sense
