Burning Ukrainian books isn't enough for russians, they are bombing printing houses.

This is Factor Druk, one of the largest full-cycle printing houses both in Ukraine and in Europe (located in Kharkiv), where a lot of Ukrainian publishing houses print their books. And today russia bombed it. There are injured and killed.

After reading this horrible news, I went to my bookshelf, and the first comic I picked up was printed by Factor Druk. And you know what's fucking ironic?

It was one of Atla comics.

I have a collection of all Atla comics that are already published in Ukraine, and apparently they were printed by Factor Druk.

I'm sitting here completely devastated, holding these comics like the biggest treasure in the world.

Russia is a terrorist state

🚨🆘TIME IS TICKING , AND RUBA & HER FAMILY URGENTLY NEEDS HELP🆘🚨

I am Ruba, 24 years old. I am originally from northern Gaza, but now I am displaced to Rafah due to the dangerous situation there. Today marks day 216 of the war, and the attacks are relentless. The situation is heading towards genocide, dispersion, and displacement.

do you understand what it means to be in a position where you’ve been displaced time and time again, just to get to the only supposed safe area that you have been ordered to go to by a force that’s so much stronger than you as an unarmed civilian, just to be told that you can’t be there anymore ? and that is after you have lost everything, like your home, your memories, your friends, family members and loved ones, your job, and everything that you’ve worked so hard in order to achieve…

We have no shelter, everything we had has been bombed, and there are no words to describe the magnitude of the collapse we are experiencing and the suffering we are enduring. We are in danger, and at any moment we could lose our lives.

I hope you can help and support me and my family as soon as possible.

zionists are finding gazans donations posts and harassing them and talking shit. if you see that PLEASE drown them out but with love for the gazans you're defending and not with hate towards the zionists. the goal is to make the person being harassed feel loved and not to fill their notes with negativity even if it's directed at zionists

Things that are NOT antisemitic (anti-Jewish):

  • Comparing the (ongoing) Nakba to the Holocaust
  • Comparing the Israeli government to Nazi Germany
  • Comparing Zionists to Nazis (including the term “Zionazi”)

This is simply comparative analysis. Zionism is a far-right ethnonationalist ideology, and Zionists have been aiding and abetting OTHER far-right and/or ethnonationalist actors throughout the past century.

Among other things, they presented the personal journal of General Ratko Mladić, currently on trial at the International Court of Justice for committing war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide. Mladić’s journal explicitly mentions Serbia’s ample arms ties with Israel at the time.
Although there is limited political, diplomatic, and intelligence cooperation between the two countries, the relationship centers on arms transfers and related service and training matters. Israel--which is now Santiago's most important weapons supplier after the United Kingdom-- has sold Chile a wide variety of hardware, including air-to-air missiles, patrol boats, tanks, jet aircraft and advanced elctronics gear.

And let's keep in mind that one of the reasons that bad faith allegations of antisemitism are so common against Palestinians and their allies is that people are all too willing to think the worst of Arabs.

The narrative that Arabs and Muslims, among everyone in the world, are uniquely/especially antisemitic is deeply entrenched.

Which, conveniently, also serves to deflect from accountability as to who was doing all those pogroms and genocide against Jews in Europe. It's very comfortable for non-Muslim white people to scapegoat Palestinians. Very easy to accept that Palestinians and their allies are just being mean.

(in particular I'm thinking of that shitty German song that called Palestinians the grandchildren of Jew-gassers. There's historical revisionism and then there is whatever in hell THAT is.)

Hi The fundraising campaign is slow and ineffective. Could you please repost it for me? 🙏🙏

Avatar

Salam, yes of course I can. May Allah protect you and your family inshaAllah.

This fundraiser belongs to Ahmed, who is trying to evacuate his family from Gaza. His father has suffered a severe injury and needs urgent medical attention. They are very low on funds with less than 10% of their goal met ($4k/50k).

This is a legitimate fundraiser, so please do not hesitate to give what you can and reblog/share with others! Progress has been slow, so let's do what we can to get Ahmed's family to their goal!

Throughout the first five months of the war, both my big sister and my sister in law had been pregnant. They had to endure constant displacement and unspeakable horrors on top of pregnancy discomforts. The few times I was able to reach my sister, she would keep praying not to go into labor before that nightmarish reality ended.

Sadly, things did not go her way. The war was raging when she gave birth to beautiful baby Ossama, and it still is ongoing. Almost at the same time my brother and his wife had sweet baby twin girls, Ritaj and Rital. The three little angels are rocked to sleep by the sound of bombs and buzzing drones instead of lullabies. Due to the unsanitary conditions in their tent and formula scarcity, the newborns have been constantly suffering from acute respiratory infections as well as slow weight gain. The only medical care they were getting was that of an overcrowded field hospital with limited resources, and even that is now denied to them as my family has been forcibly evacuated again from Rafah to Khan Yunis where nothing is left but rubble.

As you may well know, many babies in Gaza are lost while waiting for consideration. The doctors previously insisted that the little ones would fail to thrive and fully recover if they stayed in the same unhealthy environment.

Despite everything, these babies are a source of hope and strength for us. Please don't let them fade away. My family is barely holding on for their sake and that of their older brothers and sisters.

We would be forever grateful for any kind of support.

Please donate if possible and reblog as often as you can 🙏

A Reminder

Palestine is not over. Palestine is not dead. Gaza, the West Bank, the entire region between the river and the sea, and the various countries across the world where refugees have fled to, house a surviving people and surviving culture. Palestine is not dead, and WILL NOT die.

I'm seeing a lot of very valid despair online, but if you're someone like me, living a privileged life in a Western country NOT under active bombardment, and which is actually COMPLICIT to some degree in that bombardment: we don't get to give up. Not now, not ever.

You can still get involved in protests or direct actions (e.g. blocking supply), you can still donate eSims or fund UNRWA on your government's behalf, you can still hassle the crap out of your local MP. No, it won't roll back the harm that's already been committed, but all of those things are STILL WORTH DOING. PEOPLE ARE STILL ALIVE OVER THERE. PALESTINE IS STILL WORTH SAVING.

If you've bothered to read this far, you're probably already aware of what's going on over there right now. If not, check out Al Jazeera's fantastic coverage. But also remember that Palestine, and Palestinian culture, is more than just death and despair. Examples below:

Long live Palestine, from the river to the sea.

not that either is a good thing but there is a small cosmic sort of irony to appreciate in the way that the russian invasion of ukraine and the most recent nakba happened so close together and how they through comparison made it undeniably clear how much the definition of war crime and genocide and atrocity &etc depends on the geopolitical interests of the imperial core

I think about her every day.

Please take some time and watch Jenin, Jenin. It is available with English subtitles on YouTube.

The film documents the aftermath of the 2002 Israeli operation "Defensive Shield" in which Israel invaded the Jenin camp, killing its people and levelling its homes to the ground.

This documentary is a must watch for everyone, but especially if you are in the initial learning stage of understanding the Palestinian struggle.

Spain, Norway and Ireland have announced plans to formally recognize a Palestinian state, in a move that is likely to bolster the global Palestinian cause but strain relations with Israel. Palestinian statehood has been recognized by more than 130 out of 193 member states of the United Nations, according to the Palestine Liberation Organization. “Today, Ireland, Norway and Spain are announcing that we recognize the state of Palestine. Each of us will now undertake whatever national steps are necessary to give effect to that decision,” Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris told a news conference in Dublin. The recognition will come into force in all three countries on May 28, Irish foreign minister Micheál Martin said. Norway’s Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre said the war in Gaza has “made it clear that achieving peace and stability must be predicted on resolving the Palestinian question.” “In the midst of a war, with tens of thousands killed and injured, we must keep alive the only alternative that offers a political solution for Israelis and Palestinians alike: Two states, living side by side, in peace and security,” Støre said. Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez said: “We will recognize the state of Palestine for peace, coherence and justice.”
