Strange philosophy. I'm an admin on nl.wikinews yet since 2017, and I see that such arguments are being repeated. However, in one and a half year I have never seen a single meta-steward having a look there. But when it comes to decissions, folks want to take them here... In fact, when it is a new wiki, it has proved momentum: that was in fact the reason it got an own url. I would say: a term of three years is well enoungh, since it's a peacefull community there. Only one vote, but ther there is generally very low activity in KaWiktionary and I am the only local contributor in MediaWiki:Common.js and MediaWiki:Common.css for years. In addition, other Wiktionaries are now experiencing important technical advances (eg, the automated translation templates). To develop them in KaWiktionary, there is the need for some interface changes by the local users. Deu. 19:14, 18 December 2018 (UTC)

Strong oppose Unfortunately, User:DEU doesn't cause me great confidence, despite his contribution. His actions in the Georgian Wikipedia, as well as his contribution, show that he is not worthy of this status. Best, --Mehman 97 19:30, 19 December 2018 (UTC)

he also voted against me without any comment locally. Please note, however, that he does not have sufficient contributions in Wiktionary to vote against without reasons. Deu. 19:57, 19 December 2018 (UTC)

2 support votes, no votes against, no votes neutral. The editinterface right is mainly for importing the very basic scripts and stylesheets to the newly-opened Cantonese Wiktionary. I didn't state on the local discussion page that the adminship would be permanent, but it would also be fine otherwise, as the community is still relatively small.--Hello903hello (talk) 13:30, 19 December 2018 (UTC)

(* So I am requesting admin and interface admin rights here.

  • Bringing new gadgets like citoid, reflinks, hot-cat to this wiki.
  • categorization, quality control of the existing content, introduction of new content.
  • Until this site and interface is updated and made user friendly, more editors would not see this site as a opportunity to contribute, I know this as I conduct workshops and edi-o-thons across Maharashtra. And I am trying to get more contributors to this wiki.)
  • I have been working to clean copyvio on enwiki, mrwiki and opposing sockpuppetery and vandalism on mrwiki, So it is very evident that people involved in all sorts disruptive editing would oppose me, So I request authorities here to consider the history of the user's almost abusively opposing me. Thanks,

QueerEcofeminist (talk) 09:51, 9 December 2018 (UTC)

 On hold --Alaa :)..! 04:09, 10 December 2018 (UTC)
I count 9 votes, out of which 6 support and 3 oppose (66% support). Also many of the supporters have no edits to the project other than the vote. so marking this as Not done as there is no community consensus to grant this permission at this point. Please feel free to re-apply later with another election (note: Next time, please use proper table format or just the sub headers for the voting, it's really difficult to check the votes with your current format) --Shanmugamp7 (talk) 17:15, 25 December 2018 (UTC)

Thanks for your time, As there is no active admin and even after 66% support if I am not the right candidate then it's really depressing. --QueerEcofeminist (talk) 18:53, 25 December 2018 (UTC)

Please note that most of the projects consider 75% and above as the success rate. We just judge Community consensus, as i said earlier, many of the editor's who supported you does not have any edits to the project--Shanmugamp7 (talk) 19:05, 25 December 2018 (UTC)

The users who opposed me are already involved in some sort of fights on mrwiki and other projects, as I worked on copyvio and vandalism. So these users were destined to be in opposition. Few of them are already blocked on en and have long history of blocks and they have edits here. Mrwikiqoute derives everything from mrwiki.

So I am not opposing or arguing to fetch the adminship but let's have a look at who and why they have opposed and do their contributions looks like constructive. As they did on many other projects even on qoute they have done copyvio. And their copyvio is their contribution here. Thanks and regards. --QueerEcofeminist (talk) 19:57, 25 December 2018 (UTC)

We do not judge the consensus based on other wiki contributions (also i see one user indef blocked on en wiki, not few of them). Also we will not be able to judge what content they are contributing as we do not have expertise in the language (per your argument, i see they have quite a good amount of contributions to mrwiki ). As i said earlier, right now there is no consensus to grant you the permission. Please feel free to re-apply when you have consensus. Now can we stop this discussion here?. If you have any problems please discuss locally and come up with a consensus. --Shanmugamp7 (talk) 07:10, 26 December 2018 (UTC)

I am done with my doubts and had no intention to stretch it further. Thanks again for your time --QueerEcofeminist (talk) 07:52, 26 December 2018 (UTC)

There I can read that "Some administrators may become inactive for a period of time, or may retire altogether. Not done; same as the en.wiktionary request above. The requesting user is not part of the cywiki community nor it seems to speak the language. Vietbio@viwiki

I'd like to request to remove the sysop right of this user. Per Local inactivity policies at vi.wiki, Vietbio has been absent for several years. A notice was posted on his user talk page at the project and no response. He's currently also a bureaucrat, but it will be dealt with in another occasion. There is no policy on vi.wiki that a bureaucrat has to be a sysop. Thanks. Tân (talk) 23:42, 30 November 2018 (UTC)

Hi Tân - If Google Translate does not lie to me, the policy you mention says that the administrator loosing the tools will become a regular member of the community. However being a bureaucrat is not just being a regular member. I have no qualms to remove sysop and leave bureaucrat, but I want to be sure (and also please note that he could promote itself again, etc.). Regards. —MarcoAurelio (talk) 17:44, 1 December 2018 (UTC)
Ping also @DHN. Regards, —MarcoAurelio (talk) 17:50, 1 December 2018 (UTC)
vi.wikipedia currently does not have a policy regarding removing sysop rights for inactive users. We can have a community discussion and create one but I don't think we should retroactively apply to this user. In the absence of a local policy, I think the Meta policy applies. DHN (talk) 18:10, 4 December 2018 (UTC)
DHN: So, just to be clear; I understand this user is not yet ready for desysop according to the local policy? Thanks, —MarcoAurelio (talk) 10:06, 6 December 2018 (UTC)
There is no local policy on de-sysoping. Are there any applicable policies on meta? DHN (talk) 19:01, 6 December 2018 (UTC)
So were these three desysops invalid? Or these four? --Rschen7754 08:16, 7 December 2018 (UTC)
And what's then vi:Wikipedia:Bảo_quản_viên#Vắng_mặt_quá_lâu? —MarcoAurelio (talk) 13:33, 7 December 2018 (UTC)
I've emailed mxn. This needs to be clarified. Thanks. —MarcoAurelio (talk) 13:37, 7 December 2018 (UTC)
vi:Wikipedia:Bảo quản viên#Vắng mặt quá lâu is the policy that outlines a process for removing sysop rights from inactive users. That's what was followed in this case and the other cases mentioned above. However, DHN's point is that there isn't a policy for automatically desysopping, such as the one that Meta applies by default in the absence of a local policy. The local policy applies only to administrators, not bureaucrats, whereas the Meta policy applies also to bureaucrats. So if I understand DHN correctly, both rights would be removed: the administrator right due to the local policy, and the bureaucrat right due to the global policy. As far as I can tell, AAR has overlooked Vietbio up to now – maybe because it was assumed that the local policy applied to all rightsholders? – Minh Nguyễn 💬 16:29, 7 December 2018 (UTC)
@Mxn: Thank you for your comment. AAR doesn't apply to viwiki because you have an active desysop procedure as listed at Admin_activity_review/Local_inactivity_policies#Wikipedias. If AAR were to apply indeed we'd remove both after a month of the warning, but if you think your local policy does not cover the removal of the bureaucrat flag, we wouldn't be able to remove it as our hands would be tied. —MarcoAurelio (talk) 18:47, 7 December 2018 (UTC)
Sorry, I misspoke. I was referring to the process of removing a bureaucrat, which we don't have. We do have a process in place to remove sysops - however it doesn't mention anything about how to handle the situation where the user is also a bureaucrat. DHN (talk) 19:08, 7 December 2018 (UTC)

┌─────────────────────────────┘
I then suggest to take this case back to vi.wikipedia and make a local decision. Maybe the vi.wikipedia community can agree that the policy also shall apply to bureaucrats and thus there should be no obstacles from our side to proceed. —MarcoAurelio (talk) 20:52, 7 December 2018 (UTC)

Not done per myself above. This is contentious and might require a local policy change. This should be discussed locally. Please come back afterwards should the community agrees to remove this user's bureaucrat status or amend the policy to also include bureaucrats. User Filtro antiabusos@eswiki

This account (automatic-system-generated account?) does not comply with the requirements to be a local sysop account (at least one-year-old registered user, with enabled email, trusted and evaluated by the community, with a 75 % support, and finally granted together with bureaucrat's right). Please, remove sysop rights. If the system needs to grant permissions to this account, you can do it by using the global sysop permission but not by breaking local rules. Thanks for your request, I was said to make some noise here: phab:T209565. Stryn (talk) 17:28, 18 December 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for your answer Stryn, but I don't want to make noise in a development place. I made a request in Meta-Wiki, the place where WMF projects must coordinate their rules, and exactly here where people requests to have stewards grant or revoke administrator rights on WMF projects. -- Leoncastro (talk) 18:29, 18 December 2018 (UTC)
I understand, I'm on your side, but WMF says that it's useless to remove admin rights from these system accounts because they will be granted again by system. Only making noise (or giving arguments what is wrong) will hopefully change something. So I'm not removing rights now, because I fear they will be restored soon again. I'm perfectly fine if any other steward wants to perform your request. Stryn (talk) 18:34, 18 December 2018 (UTC)
This is very disrespectful of WMF. Just throw a new user to our face and call it an admin? Not a single notification or explanation, just leave it there and tell us be happy with it? Nevermind that our request for the feature reviewer has been ignored by the development team. Why is it so difficult to implement it while English Wikipedia already has it? Apparently WMF only cares about English Wikipedia and gives no *** about other wikis. I'm thinking about building our own server due to this disrespect. Khủng Long (talk) 02:27, 19 December 2018 (UTC)
According to Tim Starling the flags can be removed, but given that maintenance will have to be done again soon I'd not bother removing the flag now to re-remove it a week later.
Btw., can we please stop making storms out of teacups? I have nothing to do with this account getting +sysop everywhere but c'mon this all sudden upsetting and people waving hands is kind of ridiculous. Look at es:Special:ListUsers/bot and you'll see how many system accounts got bot flag the same way this account got promoted (and which need it fwiw: "Gestor de páginas de discusión de Flow, Flow talk page manager, MediaWiki default, Maintenance script and MediaWiki message delivery).
Apparently a server-side script was ran on all wikis to fix a problem with abusefilters 'throttle' action and that caused this (I repeat, I am not involved). The account is not from any person, cannot be registered and nobody can log-in to it. It is used by AbuseFilter to block on wikis where the filter is allowed to take such an action. —MarcoAurelio (talk) 11:24, 19 December 2018 (UTC)
You know that this account basically only does what local admins tell it to (via the abuse filter), yes? No one can log into it, or use it. It isn't a user; it's a script. Vermont (talk) 12:04, 19 December 2018 (UTC)
...and as far as it goes, if abuse filters are not allowed to block, there's no harm in local admins blocking this "user". StevenJ81 (talk) 16:29, 19 December 2018 (UTC)
A village pump message before this is being done will allay much of the worries. I also discussed on IRC with other community members and after 2 days then I understood it's function and role. About blocking the user, I don't think is needed as there's no one behind it. It did shocked me a little I must admit, and that's an understatement.--Cohaf (talk) 16:48, 19 December 2018 (UTC)

Yes Ruslik0, based on the regulations of the Vietnamese Wikipedia community, it is only necessary exceeding 50% of the votes agree. Here is the rule of the vote:cuộc bỏ phiếu bất tín nhiệm chỉ được coi là thành công nếu số phiếu thuận lớn hơn 1/2 (quá bán) trên tổng số phiếu--ThiênĐế98 (talk) 00:53, 27 December 2018 (UTC)

To prolong your (interface) adminship, please start another election a few days before your temporary access expires, and after a week post your request again to this page. I would say no. I don't think we should grant permanent adminships. Most of the voters have less than 50 edits and aren't active anymore (voting started more than 40 days ago). Matiia (talk) 00:50, 6 December 2017 (UTC)
Hello Matiia, some voters are students from Otapi High school, and they are contributing during computer courses, this is why you see less than 50 contribs + courses starts again in January. This community are doing edit-a-thons every 2 weeks, and in a previous request, some Stewards proposed this Wiki should have permanent admins instead of me bureaucrat. So I asked them to have a vote that last for more than one month + have youngters to vote. I rather have these 3 leaders manage their wiki and be autonomous, than me making requests here all the time, because they don't speak English. I hope this explain the situation. Best regards, Benoit Rochon (talk) 11:38, 6 December 2017 (UTC)
StevenJ81 (talk) 14:49, 6 December 2017 (UTC)
One year looks fine to me. I don't want to follow up every Admin actions requests on a daily basis ! Best, Benoit Rochon (talk) 16:11, 6 December 2017 (UTC)
@Matiia: Are you ok with a year? Benoit is President of Wikimedia Canada, and this project is closely supported by Wikimedia Canada. StevenJ81 (talk) 16:16, 6 December 2017 (UTC)
What does Wikimedia Canada have to do with this? Do they have any special authority over this wiki, including to remove any sysops who misuse their tools, or to determine policy on this wiki? --Rschen7754 05:25, 7 December 2017 (UTC)

One year sounds fine, but I don't feel really comfortable granting these user rights myself due to the time this request was ongoing, so I'll let another steward handle it. I'm okay with either action taken. Matiia (talk) 02:28, 7 December 2017 (UTC)

Honnestly Matiia, I do not want to continue to have trusteeship over an aboriginal people in Canada, and I want them to manage their own Wiki. We went through a lot of obstacles for the past 3 years. Now I would like this Canadian aboriginal Wiki to have their own sysops. Guys, let's make this happen. Benoit Rochon (talk) 03:19, 7 December 2017 (UTC)

Just 3 supports in your RfA and most of users said in #2 aren't active anymore. I would say to grant temp adminship for one year. Matiia (talk) 16:44, 29 December 2017 (UTC)
Only one is inactive. Romaine is still active (on Wikidata for us and with his bot and delete log - we abandoned press releases). Who knows him, knows he won't go. The voting system still needs a reform, that's why only three (exclusive of me) have voting rights. This rule still needs a reform. Please take into account that we are very active (see the sum of my list here above: that is not "little more established" but very much established - that was agreed half year ago). And please regard that there is not any binding of anybody of Meta with nl.wikinews and insofar no need that the supervision should be effectuated from here. Next to that, me myself I'm yet active since 2013: long enough to trust that I won't walk away. Ymnes (talk) 17:06, 29 December 2017 (UTC)
Dutch Wikinews is a small project compared with Wikipedia NL. But WikinewsNL is at the same size (somethimes even bigger) of other NL-sisterprojects who have permanent admins. I would ask also to appoint bureaucrats. With currently 0 bureaucrats it takes a long time to install a bot because of the waiting period on Meta. A Wikinews project must be fast and dynamic, because it is a news project - completely different than other Wikiprojects with no time pressure. The procedure that we have to do here and on our local wiki - each 6 months - is time that is lost in the creation of articles and the further expansion of the project. I agree with the request for permanent adminship, but if that is not possible I would like ask to appoint Ymnes bureaucratic presence of 6 months. (as a sort of compromise). Livenws (talk) 23:04, 29 December 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for the compliment for being well as a bureaucrat too. However, the voting and this application are about permanent adminship. "Inactive users" was a bizarre remark for a news website and we aren't even a real new project (in fact it yet exists since 2005). Half a year ago we were given the objective to make the project a "little more established". We did much more than that, and against all odds the project is doing very well. It would feel very unfair and unrewarding when we were imposed a new set of rules here, different from what was formulated half a year ago. Next to that we should be treated equal with other projects. Ymnes (talk) 07:50, 30 December 2017 (UTC)
Yes, it's more established now, but active community is still small. I know this wiki isn't really new, but it doesn't matter, if community is small, then we'll grant temp adminship.Matiia (talk) 19:22, 30 December 2017 (UTC)
Inequality should not exist between Wikimedia projects. There are three very active administrators there, with each of us years of experience on Wikimedia projects. Dutch is a major language and nl.Wikinews is very active. And in comparison it is not small. Please reward our efforts and follow up what was agreed upon half a year ago. Ymnes (talk) 19:55, 30 December 2017 (UTC)
I don't see anything was agreed at your another request. Am I missing anything? Matiia (talk) 20:12, 30 December 2017 (UTC)
Yes, a lot. Don't focus, but see the whole picture. Ymnes (talk) 22:26, 30 December 2017 (UTC)
