Overall discussion
Handled issues.

At http://wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Requests_for_permissions there are many users who have had a request for admin rights open for at least 7 days. These are (as of 06:38, 8 November 2012 (UTC)):

  • User:Guerillero
  • User:Yair rand
  • User:Pigsonthewing
  • User:Wiki13
  • User:SarahStierch
  • User:Yiyi
  • User:Superzerocool
  • User:Romaine
  • User:Hazard-SJ (note: lacks strong support in the discussion: 3 support, 1 oppose)
  • User:Stryn
  • User:ShinePhantom
  • User:Hydriz
  • User:Sannita
  • User:Restu20
  • User:Magalhães (note: lacks sufficient participation in the discussion: only 2 users)
  • User:Tpt
  • User:Merlissimo
  • User:Sebleouf
  • User:Raymond
  • User:Emijrp
  • User:Wagino 20100516 (note: lacks sufficient participation in the discussion: only 3 users)
  • User:Arkanosis
  • User:Jitrixis (note: minor opposition: 9 support, 2 oppose)
  • User:Seewolf
  • User:Kondicherry (note: lacks sufficient participation in the discussion: only 2 users)
  • User:Zanka
  • User:Benoit Rochon
  • User:Hoo man
  • User:Sven Manguard

A strong consensus has formed at http://wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata_talk:Administrators#Reconfirmation_for_initial_wave_of_admins that these admin rights should be reconfirmed in 3 months' time. However, since there is a large community active at Wikidata, I would expect the project to handle this reconfirmation internally. I don't believe the formal "temporary sysop" procedure needs to be followed in this case.

I will leave it to stewards to select which users have enough support to be promoted. This, that and the other (talk) 06:38, 8 November 2012 (UTC)

Comment - I have modified the format of this request, moving this text down. -- MarcoAurelio (talk) 15:38, 8 November 2012 (UTC)
Request for further requests. Please do use the required format for this page next time. The domain for the template is wikidata. Thanks. -- MarcoAurelio (talk) 15:38, 8 November 2012 (UTC)
I added some more using the required format:
  • User:Michiel1972
  • User:Leag
  • User:Lomita
  • User:TBloemink
  • User:Jdforrester
  • User:Grondin
  • User:Skull33

  • User:Vituzzu 10:44, 10 November 2012 (UTC)
  • User:Ajraddatz 10:44, 10 November 2012 (UTC)

  • User:Jasper Deng 10:44, 10 November 2012 (UTC)
  • User:Danny B. 06:29, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
But I did not use permanent links like you did, because more votes may be added before the requests are decided. This, that and the other (talk) 06:47, 9 November 2012 (UTC)

I have collapsed the above because they are resolved issues (and the page looks nicer now). Feel free to post below this message if you have furter questions or issues. Best regards. -- MarcoAurelio (talk) 14:53, 15 November 2012 (UTC)

This election was with consensus & can be seen on this Archive page. So I request you to please restore the Bureaucrat position rights for me, so that hi.wikipedia also has its one local Bureaucrat & everybody or anybody has no need to call up the stewards for the matters, that can be resolved there and then. --Ashish Bhatnagartalk 15:16, 10 November 2012 (UTC)

I would agree with Vituzzi that we probably should just remove the two existing crats. MBisanz talk 23:35, 12 November 2012 (UTC)
You'd probably need to propose that locally. I don't think policy allows removal of unused bureaucrat rights without community approval. Who's Vituzzi? :) Jafeluv (talk) 13:07, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
I have reminded both inactive bureaucrats if they are still interested in being bureaucrats. If no response, both of them will be locally proposed for de-flagging. Meanwhile, I do not consider this wiki big enough to have its own bureaucrat yet.--Jusjih (talk) 09:35, 22 November 2012 (UTC)
Not done 2 active admins means no need for 'crats and far too small of a community to appoint one. If the current crats are inactive, stewards are empowered to act as local 'crats as they do on wikis without 'crats; Vituzzi = User:Vituzzu with a typo; local communities can draft policy to have inactive 'crats removed, it's their wiki and up to them. ThomasBot@wikisource

On wikisource (multilingual) four votes is substantial; we did take a while to process this but there were no objections; furthermore ThomasBot is an admin bot of a retired user (ThomasV may still be an active or occasional dev but has not edited on any project in over a year; even longer for his bot) so the existence of an admin bot is a security risk. --Doug.(talk contribs) 16:29, 3 November 2012 (UTC)

I don't see any notification to the user, which seem like a sensible thing to do. Snowolf How can I help? 16:44, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
I understand the principle but that hasn't been historically required on mul.ws and this is a bot of a retired user. ThomasV has no valid arguments to keep bot status even if he cared. ThomasV himself was separately nominated and did not reply with regard to his own account! oldwikisource:User_talk:ThomasV#Sysop. To expect him to respond regarding his bot is a bit overly hopeful. :-\ --Doug.(talk contribs) 16:50, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
I see a consensus on the talkpage, tho dating from some time ago, that notification should be required: oldwikisource:Wikisource_talk:Administrators#Consider_removing_inactive_administrators_after_long_time.2C_such_as_six_months. Snowolf How can I help? 19:13, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
OK, that was discussed, there is no policy and that wasn't a discussion about admin bots but about admins, they are not the same. This is a bot, it can't be notified except by notifying ThomasV who did not respond to a notification about his own desysop and hasn't edited on any wiki in over a year; the bot hasn't edited in over two years. AND admin bots are special, they are rare and high risk and we don't want this one. What exactly is the point to notifying ThomasV that we want to desysop his bot other than a principle of courtesy? It's unnecessary process.--Doug.(talk contribs) 19:46, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
Done; to me, a simple notification to the master account suffices. The local community seems to agree that they should have their admin bit stripped off. They didn't even respond to the first notification anyways. Elfix 20:13, 3 November 2012 (UTC)

Maximillion Pegasus@wikisource

On wikisource (multilingual) historically two unopposed votes is sufficient to desyop after a period of somewhere between 30 days and six months (see, oldwikisource:Wikisource_talk:Administrators). This has three votes and nearly 9 months with no objections. User remains inactive on wikisource.--Doug.(talk contribs) 16:37, 3 November 2012 (UTC)

Rights removed. Trijnsteltalk 11:06, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
Why on earth were the rights removed? Snowolf How can I help? 13:02, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
To expand on that, the users didn't voice any opposition at all on mrwikisource, vaguely referred to "we discussed this on mrwiki". This is clearly not a valid complaint, and to remove +sysop from a user based on some vague complaints about their activity on a different wiki is ridicolous. I ask that the rights be reinstated until such time as the complaints have some substance. Snowolf How can I help? 13:04, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
I prefer not to continue with adding and removing admin rights, so I'd like to do it well now. What do you advice me? Trijnsteltalk 20:11, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
Seriously, if you take a closer look to the two users who complained, you will see that they are likely to be socks of the troll group attacking sysops at mrwiki. Just read again the messages on Trijnstel's user talk page, where शंतनू is qualified of most unwanted person or a lier (he has given wrong information to you). Plus this is totally unfounded : what's the wrong informations he has given to Trijnstel ? That's simply attacking without any proof ! That's why, when Trijnstel asked him to provide some evidence of what he's saying, no answer came. Then, an other one appears, saying that the sysop is not experienced enough. Easy to say when you don't even have an account on the concerned project... All this makes me think that this user belongs to the trolls attacking sysops at mrwiki. That's not because of such an unfounded attack that we should remove the sysop rights of a user. Did somebody find any abuse when checking the sysop operations this user has done ? -- Quentinv57 (talk) 10:08, 23 May 2012 (UTC)
I'm re-granting the user the +sysop flag. I stand by my assessment that unfounded allegations without any evidence are not basis for removal of +sysop, despite what Jusjih said above. They might be grounds for discussion on the local wiki tho. The user has never ever received a complaint on his talk page, as such any allegations are baseless if they do not even engage the user in discussions. Editing on wm2010 wiki

Hello, I need to edit some pages (most notably wm2010:Schedule) on Wikimania 2010 wiki. I know it's old but we got some material available it should be linked there. Thank you.  « Saper // talk »  19:57, 9 September 2012 (UTC)

In general, we do not substantially edit closed wikis, and many folks feel strongly that no such editing should take place. If you wish to submit your changes, a steward can look into applying them for you. Otherwise, for you to be able to edit it we'd have to re-open the wiki afaik. Snowolf How can I help? 21:33, 9 September 2012 (UTC)
The other option would be to setup an ad-hoc global group for you to perform these edits, but again I'd like some consensus and some idea of what the changes are going to be and why they have to be implemented. Snowolf How can I help? 21:37, 9 September 2012 (UTC)

Doug@wikisource

This is a request for importer rights. The discussion has been up quite a while without any comment for several months (you'll note the last post to that page was in June and before that me in April; mainly because there are not that many regular participants. We need this ability for two reasons, 1) as stated there is a bug, though it is being fixed at this time supposedly, 2) mul has a lot of interwiki work and sometimes large amounts of works (or more frequently templates) need to be imported. I have used this right on a non-wikimedia wiki and am familiar with how it functions. Doug.(talk contribs) 01:26, 3 November 2012 (UTC)

I believe that it would be more useful to submit a bugzilla to have rowiki be added as an import source for rowikibooks, and then we can assign transwiki import rights.
