Unlike Standard Arabic, Moroccan Darija (aka Moroccan Arabic) has a G sound. Unfortunately, because it's not officially standardized, there's no consensus on which G character to use. 3 different unicode characters are commonly used to represent G in Moroccan Darija: the Persion گ, the Lexilogos ڭ, and ݣ which is found on some keyboards. The character for K ك is sometimes used as well. In the language discussion page we have agreed to use the last G (ݣ), but we cannot stop users from using the other forms of G, nor should we. The proposed solution is to use a bot that would replace any other forms of G with the chosen one, in the text and title, and also add new entries for the same article with the other forms (+ K ك), in case people search with them. With the consensus of the community, I have already run a successful test on one article, replacing the Gs in the text (while ignoring file names). The bot will need to be registered to perform its tasks fully, and we do not have any local bureaucrats who can grant it bot status and access rights. The same problem could also potentially arise in the future with P and V characters (hence the name of the bot). -- Ideophagous (talk) 09:13, 21 March 2021 (UTC+1)
