Global bot status requests

Global bot status for CandalBot

My bot is handling interwiki links on Wikisource subdomains, details on the bot user page. I kindly request a global bot flag. Candalua 10:44, 4 September 2011 (UTC)

Comment Comment Hello Candalua. I don't really understand why you are requesting the global bot flag, knowing that you are running your bot on a lot of projects without the flag per this argument. If you're not comfortable with the idea of using the flag on projects where there are active contributors, why are you more comfortable to do it on projects where people lack to follow the recent changes ? -- Quentinv57 (talk) 12:15, 4 September 2011 (UTC)
That's an old discussion, I found a solution for that: read the bot user page for details. Candalua 13:45, 4 September 2011 (UTC)
Comment Comment I hope You are aware of that only el:, fa:, it:, ko:, no:, pl: and vi: are connected to the global bots among the source-projects today. (If the list is updated.) -- Lavallen 14:46, 4 September 2011 (UTC)
Yes, I know, it's still better than nothing :-( Candalua 15:06, 4 September 2011 (UTC)
Also zh, actually. (And yes, the list is up to date). Jafeluv 06:47, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
Comment Comment: This is a long-term interwiki bot that seems to be running without problems and is already active in many projects. I see no problem with granting a global flag. Jafeluv 06:47, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
As an user on sv.wikisource, I have only good experience of this bot. The mistakes we have found, has been introduced my human editors on our or other projects. -- Lavallen 09:53, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

Global bot status for タチコマ robot

Bot is handling interwiki links and double redirects on many projects. The bot has 498172 contributions found in 396 projects. I kindly request a global bot flag. -- とある白い猫 chi? 07:39, 26 August 2011 (UTC)

Comment Comment Why is it blocked on some projects? Ruslik 10:35, 26 August 2011 (UTC)
I believe reasons for blocks are one of these three: "didn't have a local flag"/"wiki didn't want bots at all" (such as non wikipedia projects)/"bot inactive for too long" (due to my wikibreak). I have promptly removed those wikis from bots list of wikis the bot would edit. It is not like the bot was going rouge. -- とある白い猫 chi? 15:31, 27 August 2011 (UTC)
Comment Comment Most interwiki edits appear to date back to August 2008 or earlier, with only a few edits in 2011 (no interwiki edits in 2009 - just a few double redirect fixes in January and February 2009; no interwiki edits in 2010). --UV 21:00, 26 August 2011 (UTC)
I had been on a wiki break since 2008 to until recently. I did not run the bots while I wasn't editing/paying attention. Global bot flags did not exist back in 2008. I used pywikipediabot back then and still use the same software with frequent svn updates. -- とある白い猫 chi? 15:31, 27 August 2011 (UTC)
So, there is no objections? Ruslik 10:22, 8 September 2011 (UTC)
Done for wikis allowing global bots with no strong objections for many days. Reviewing the edits shows general trustworthiness.--Jusjih 09:01, 13 September 2011 (UTC)

Global bot status for Vagobot

(your remarks) Vago 13:18, 8 September 2011 (UTC)

Waiting for the bot owner to complete the request, but a quick comment: I see that the bot has been recently deflagged in its home project. It would be nice to know the reason for that. Jafeluv 15:04, 8 September 2011 (UTC)
Please see. --N KOziTalk 09:47, 12 September 2011 (UTC)
In azviki bots have started to create articles. And some members do not agree with that. Were discussed. And at this time rescued bureaucrat status 5 bots, including Vagobot. After solving the problem the status Vagobot impeccably renovated.Vago 06:56, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Even if the bot has 180k edits on its main project, I see that the interwiki work has just begun for a couple of days (12 editions till now). I think that the bot must have worked a little more to have a global bot flag. -- Quentinv57 (talk) 19:55, 8 September 2011 (UTC)
Done.--Jusjih 09:39, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
Thanks. Vago 14:15, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
The bot has just a few edits outside home project. In my opinion, granting the global flag should be reverted. --Mercy 14:18, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
I agree with Mercy. I did not understand why it was granted without a clear consensus. Moreover, the request is still not completed. -- Quentinv57 (talk) 15:42, 21 September 2011 (UTC)
2nded – why was this done? Seb az86556 21:32, 21 September 2011 (UTC)
How many edits needs outside home project for the global flag? Please, see
Vago 05:03, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
It is a usual practice to grant the global bot flag to robots with at least 100,000 contributions on all projects. Moreover, the global bot flag is intended for bots that have been running for a longer period with no substantial problems. Since your robot has done only a few interwiki edits on other wikis and has been working with interwiki links just for a short time, we cannot approve your request at the moment. I'm going to remove the global bot flag from your robot. Please feel free to place your request again after a couple of months and after reaching at least 100,000 contributions on other projects. Best regards --Mercy 07:45, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
It used to be so. Now "It is a usual practice to grant the global bot flag to robots with at least 100,000 contributions on all projects." I don't know what will be "after a couple of months"! If you really want to keep the fairness, please remove the flags of all global bots, which have not made edits great than 100,000 outside home project. Best regards, Vago 08:38, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
They are counting ~100,000 edits with interwiki-linking, since that is (almost) the only thing a global bot should do. Like You, my main bot has a large number of edits on several projects, but not a single one about interwiki. Your (and mine) experience of interwiki has just started. You maybe not have to wait until you have 100k of such edits, but until you have a good edit-history of interwiki on several projects. -- Lavallen 14:18, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
Please, see, list of global bots, edits less than 100000 (the edits must have been very little versus today, when requested for the global bot flag): KhanBot - only 2194 edits (!!! ). Ver-bot, MagnusA.Bot, AHbot, Aibot, Alambot, AnankeBot, BokimBot, ChtitBot, FiriBot, Kwjbot, Soulbot, TinucherianBot II, VVVBot. I think than "Before the decision, all must know what justice is!"Vago 05:47, 23 September 2011 (UTC)
The bots you are mentioning were promoted long time ago when there were no rules or usual practices related to granting the global bot flag. To be simple, your robot has no cross-wiki history and you personally don't have much experience with operating a bot on other projects except your home wiki. These are the basic prerequisites needed to get the flag and you evidently do not fulfill them. Please continue operating your bot and show us that you really need the flag. Thank you. --Mercy 09:49, 23 September 2011 (UTC)
If the stewards will be continue so, I probably will not request for the global bot status. Good luck!Vago 13:14, 23 September 2011 (UTC)

Ruslik, FYI, this bot bit request is to cleanup the unicode issues caused by the unicode version move made by the foundation's decision to move unicode version up. this is more of mandatory cleanup than just regular interwiki. --Jyothis 22:37, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

I am asking both inactive bureaucrats at wikt:ar:User talk:Lord Anubis andf wikt:ar:User talk:Chaos. If they do not respond in a week, I will locally propose de-flagging them.--Jusjih 09:48, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
By all means, although I don't think it makes any difference to us whether inactive users have the crat flag or not. A more effective proposal could be that the community consider nominating some of their active users for bureaucratship. Jafeluv 10:08, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
So, Can't you give me bot flag as there isn't active bureaucrats at arwiktionary?--Mohamed ElGedawy Talk 10:32, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
We can, if the bureaucrats have been inactive for a long time. In this case they have. Jafeluv 09:22, 23 September 2011 (UTC)
All the edits I see by the bot so far are null edits: adding whitespace, messing with interwiki sorting order, and changing "Image" prefixes to "File". If you look at the bot policy, auto-approval is limited to interwiki-only bots. Furthermore, there's no indication on the local policy page that the project even allows auto-approval. I'm sorry, but I think this would require an active consensus on the project that the bot's edits serve some useful purpose. Jafeluv 09:22, 23 September 2011 (UTC)
Ok, I'll run it on interwiki.--Mohamed ElGedawy Talk 13:50, 23 September 2011 (UTC)

My apologies, I did not remember to check that, so I reopened the request. Practice makes perfect. -- Quentinv57 (talk) 12:26, 24 September 2011 (UTC)
The bot has been running without problems for well over a week, so I see no problem with granting the flag. One observation, however: Bot accounts should only perform bot edits. For comments such as this, you should use your regular account (or create a temporary one, if your user name is unavailable in the project). Jafeluv 12:42, 24 September 2011 (UTC)
