The Eurofins Discovery team was delighted to welcome a group of high school students to their laboratories in St. Charles, Missouri, USA recently. 🔬 The event was organised by the Rockwood School District as part of their exciting Career Exploration Programme led by Matthew Schindler which provides students with valuable experiential learning opportunities. 🏫 The day started with an informative session all about our Discovery Services platforms. The group was given a behind-the-scenes tour of our laboratories to learn about the drug discovery process from start to finish, view live primary cells/cancer cells under microscopes, and observe our state-of-the-art laboratory automation systems. 🧫 The students were interested in a wide variety of scientific fields including environmental science, medicine, biology, and chemistry. Our laboratory technicians were thrilled to meet the bright, enthusiastic young students and answer their questions about the drug discovery process. 🥼 We hope that this enriching experience helped the students to better understand the wide variety of career opportunities for young people in science! 👩🔬 #Eurofins #LabTour #SupportingStudents #TestingForLife

Bringing the laboratory to the client 🚙🚍🚑   Heading into the summer of 2024, with the WHO having ended the global emergency status for COVID-19, we are reminded of the efforts of our colleagues around the world over recent summers to support the fight against COVID-19.   If you were in Europe during the pandemic, you may have seen Eurofins-branded mobile testing vehicles on the road.   To increase testing capacity and help prevent the spread of the virus, Eurofins teams had an ingenious solution. They took whatever suitable vehicles they could find, from campervans and disused ambulances to school buses, and transformed them into a highly flexible means of testing people many miles apart!   These mobile sampling units, some of which could even process samples onboard, soon became a feature of cities in Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Italy, Germany, and the UK.   #Eurofins #MobileLaboratory #TestingForLife

I can talk to people about who I am, in small communities breaking stereotypes. 🍐 Congratulations to our talented Commercial Excellence colleagues from Eurofins Food & Feed Testing, Agro Testing Europe, and SAM Sensory and Consumer Research! 🎯 Our colleagues took part in a series of workshops on Personal Development & Leadership, Business Strategy, Innovation Management, and Customer-centric Strategy. This really tied into their past 5 months of hard work on strategic projects, in which they developed improvements for customer-centric solutions. Even more exciting, in the coming week they are set to present their dedicated projects to the Management Team at Eurofins Food & Feed and Agro Testing in Europe. 📚 These customer-centric workshops have been developed in collaboration with the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, as part of a cross-business talent programme, led by Nicolaas Smit from the Rotterdam School of Management, and colleagues from the #Eurofins network. Namely, Heiko Peuthert, Commercial Director of Food & Feed Testing Germany and Søren Junker Nielsen, National Business Line Director Food & Feed Testing Denmark. 🍄 What if we told you that there is a type of mushroom that helps to lessen the effects of drought?   🥼 Researchers at the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna university in Italy are leading the Microbios project, which aims to boost crop resilience to drought. Enter the ‘Serendipita indica’, a tiny fungus discovered in the Thar desert of India. This unassuming mushroom has a superpower: when cultivated with other plants, it enhances their tolerance to water scarcity.   🍅 In fact, our colleagues at Eurofins Genomics laboratories in Italy collaborated with Microbios project researchers to cultivate tomato plants with the beneficial fungus under critical water conditions. Tomato plants “fertilised” by the fungus were 15% more likely to survive and thrive than other tomato plants!   💧 As the world faces dwindling water supplies, this small fungus could prove to be a big help in addressing the effects of climate change!   #Eurofins #ClimateChange #Drought #Fungus #TestingForLife
