The European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE) is the only European Union agency focusing solely on gender equality.
About us
EIGE is the independent knowledge centre and the primary source for information on gender equality in the European Union. We contribute to making the European Union become a Union of Equality, where women and men, girls and boys in all their diversity are free to pursue their chosen path in life, have equal opportunities to thrive, and can equally participate in and lead our societies. EIGE’s unique expert knowledge, research, data and tools help policy makers design measures that are inclusive, transformative and promote gender equality in all areas of life. We communicate our expertise effectively and work closely with partners in order to raise awareness at the EU and national levels, as well as in EU candidate countries and potential candidate countries.

📢 The European Network Against Racism Aisbl (ENAR) recently analysed diversity trends in the European Parliament. 📊 🔍 One key finding: individuals with disabilities remain severely underrepresented. During the current mandate, only seven Members for the European Parliament identified as having a disability. Since more than a quarter of the EU's population has some sort of disability, the disparity is glaring. ⚖️ 👩🦽👩🦯 Women and girls with disabilities are particularly affected by marginalisation and barriers, especially when it comes to full participation in elections and meaningful inclusion in decision-making. 🗳️📋 📜 Discover the European Disability Forum's full manifesto on the rights of women and girls with disabilities and join the call for better participation and representation: https://lnkd.in/eNS-q4zA #Empowerment #Equality24seven

🔀 “When looking at dimensions of #discrimination from an #intersectional approach, we see that currently, most racialised MEPs are #women. After Brexit, women represent close to 57% of all racialised MEPs in the 9th mandate, an increase from 39% in the 8th mandate.” 🇪🇺 Ahead of the #EuropeanElections find out more about diversity and representation in European Parliament with the European Network Against Racism Aisbl (ENAR) recently released factsheet on the topic.
