Join the session at #PCS2024 to learn more: https://lnkd.in/ge9q4a3j  Title: Dynamic Mesh Coding using Orthogonal Atlas Projection Summary:  In this paper the researchers a technique to improve compression of dynamic meshes commonly used in AR/VR applications. The international standard for dynamic mesh compression being developed by the MPEG group uses a low-resolution mesh (basemesh) sequence to encode the input mesh sequence. The basemesh requires a new set of texture coordinates to map the color from the original input mesh to the low-resolution mesh surface. We propose a method to generate the new texture coordinates using orthogonal projections. Our proposed method achieves higher compression and reduces the encoder complexity. #PCS2024 #MESH #Compression #Sony #Research
