EU ARC- GDPR COMPLIANCE for SMEs

After the first successful international conference held as part of the EU ARC- GDPR COMPLIANCE for SMEs in Rome, organized by my dear friends Luciano Versace and Luigi Montuori from The Italian Data Protection Authority, we in Croatian Data Protection Authority-Agencija za zaštitu osobnih podataka organized the equally successful second conference in Zagreb. Rome, culla di meraviglie, holds a special place in my heart. Every time I set foot in Rome, I feel like a Croatian from Dante's paradise (there isn't a single photo from Rome where I don't appear enthusiastic): "Qual è colui che forse di Croazia viene e veder la Veronica nostra, che per l’antica fama non si sazia!" However, at the conference in Zagreb, a similar sense of joy was evoked by my colleagues and friends from around the globe. Some of them came in Zagreb just for a half of the day to show their support for our efforts in assisting SMEs to comply with the GDPR and to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Croatian Data Protection Agency. A huge thanks to all who have contributed to spreading the core message: the right to data protection and the right to privacy are fundamental human rights that must be safeguarded, not overlooked for the sake of AI advancements! Technological progress and the protection of human rights can and should go hand in hand! U organizaciji Bug.hr 28.06.2024. održana 6. Konferencija Legaltech, Zagreb #HUB385. Konferenciju je moderirao Oleg Maštruko. Uvodno mitove o umjetnoj inteligencije „razbijao“ je odvjetnik Stefan Martinić, Odvjetničko društvo Kramarić & partneri. Odvjetnik Marko Đurić, govorio je o prompt inženjeringu za pravnike, vještini budućnosti. Ova vještina ključna je za integraciju komunikacije s tehnologijom u poslovanje. Umjetna inteligencija (UI) u pravu, postaje način optimizacije procesa i poboljšanja efikasnosti, dok će EU Uredba o umjetnoj inteligenciji donijeti nove izazove i prilike. Jedan od tih izazova biti će problematika generativnih UI alata u kontekstu zaštite temeljenih europskih vrijednosti i zaštite autorskih prava o čemu je govorio izv. prof. Mihael Mudrić, Pravni fakultet u Zagrebu. Iskustvene situacije iz perspektive hrvatskog biznisa iznijeli su panelisti Marko Porobija, odvjetnik, Martina Silov, predsjednica CroAI (Croatian AI Association) i Marko Đuričić, Legal Specialist . Marija Boskovic Batarelo, stručnjakinja za GDPR predstavila je internetski alat „OLIVIA“ https://lnkd.in/dj6bqMhs koji je razvila Croatian Data Protection Authority-Agencija za zaštitu osobnih podataka u okviru europskog projekta #ARC2. Bojan Plese (Zakon.ai) i Ante Borić (Zakon.hr) predstavili su GenAL i uskladu s nacionalnim i EU zakonodavstvom. Najbolje prakse primjene UI u pravu prezentirao je odvjetnik Ozren Kobsa. Iz njegovog izlaganja za pravnike zainteresirane za korištenje alata korisne informacije o dostupnim alatima: „Automatizacija obrade i generiranje dokumentacije: IRONCLAD, GENIE AI, ROBIN AI; Pravna analiza: LEX MACHINA, LAW NOTION; Pravna recenzija: ELICIT, LEXIS­+AL, LUMINANCE; Upravljanje predmetima: LEGL; Pravno istraživanje: ULPIAN AI, LAWER AI; LEXI“. Svi ostali sudionici konferencije sjajni u izlaganjima Varia Fabris, Marko Oltean, Marijana Sarolic Robic, Ivan David Ivković, Iva Mišković, Biljana Cerin. Happy 6th birthday GDPR! What a celebration we had yesterday in Zagreb, 20 years of personal data protection in Croatia and 20 years of Croatian Data Protection Authority-Agencija za zaštitu osobnih podataka! We represented some milestones from Olivia web tool and EU ARC- GDPR COMPLIANCE for SMEs project, workshops performed, guidelines, and templates established. There was a lot of discussion on legitimate interest analysis, data protection impact assessments, data breaches, technical and organisational measures, as well as on the new regulatory framework for AI systems. It was nice to meet colleagues from Croatia and abroad and share experiences. We can conclude that these past 6 years were not easy, there were many ups and downs in navigating through complex rules. Nowdays we have some landmark decisions and guidelines but we still have to deal with rapid development of technology along with new laws. #GDPR #gdprcompliance #compliance #AI #oliviaknowsgdpr #personaldata #privacy

Today we gathered to participate in the #girlpower panel on the Conference celebrating #20thanniversary of the Croatian Data Protection Authority-Agencija za zaštitu osobnih podataka. We presented all the good work that was done on #ARC2 project and during the development of the web tool #Olivia for achieving #GDPR compliace for SMEs. We also discussed risk assessments, DPIAs, LIAs, different security measures and other data protection issues especially worrying our SMEs. Kudos to mu fellow collegaues on this project and on the pannel Anamarija Mladinić, Luigi Montuori, Vlatka Vuković, Marija Boskovic Batarelo, Dr. Natalija Parlov Una.

🫶 I had the privilege of participating in the high-level privacy conference "Risks and GDPR Compliance in the Age of Artificial Intelligence" 🎸 ❤️ The conference marked the 20th anniversary of Croatian Data Protection Authority-Agencija za zaštitu osobnih podataka and featured esteemed guests were from the Croatian government and EU Parliament, EU DPAs chairs, OECD and EDPB representatives, as well as other distinguished guests. 👑 🚑 Our discussions covered risk assessments, DPIAs, LIAs, security measures and related challenges and opportunities related to everchanging digital economy environment, covered within the #ARC2 project 🍀 My focus was on 🔥 AI risk management, data & privacy protection and selecting data sets related to unsupervised, supervised and reinforcement learning within AI and ML models, as well as ISO 42001 and AI risk management standards 💫 🙌 Sincere thanks to the Croatian DPA for their significant and visible effort during last few years and for inviting me to this conference. 🖖 Congrats to my distinguished colleagues for their contribution at the #girlpower panel 💪 Anamarija Mladinić Nikolina Staničić Vlatka Vuković Marija Boskovic Batarelo #dataprotection #GDPR #azop #airiskmanagement #iso42001 #20godina

Obilježili smo 20 godina rada Croatian Data Protection Authority-Agencija za zaštitu osobnih podataka i 6. rođendan #GDPRa! Meni osobno je GDPR jedna od boljih stvari koje su mi se dogodile u životu (sumnjam da voditelji i izvršitelji obrade dijele moje mišljenje 😊). Preselila sam se, promijenila posao (više puta), a danas radim ono što volim. Stekla sam nove prijatelje i kolege i postala dio naše male, ali složne GDPR zajednice. Pružamo iste usluge na malom tržištu, ali nikada se nismo ponašali kao konkurencija, već si međusobno pomažemo i tražimo savjet jedni od drugih. Hvala, ekipa! "For the last 20 years, AZOP has demonstrated its commitment to upholding the fundamental right of privacy and data protection through a variety of activities, initiatives, and projects. Recent examples include the EU ARC- GDPR COMPLIANCE for SMEs project, which helps small and medium enterprises on their way to GDPR compliance, and the innovative web tool Olivia, a virtual assistant for GDPR compliance developed in collaboration with the Italian Data Protection Authority The Italian Data Protection Authority. These are outcomes of the dedication of Zdravko and his team to raising awareness about the GDPR and helping organizations become compliant. Since Zdravko Vukic Vukić was appointed as Director in 2020, AZOP has also become renowned for its international outlook. In this regard, it is worth mentioning the successful organization of the Spring Conference in 2022. Another good example of AZOP's expertise in promoting data protection in the wider European region is the Twinning project launched in 2021, which aims to support the implementation of the modernized data protection legal framework in North Macedonia."
