Here are a few shortcuts and tips for using Tumblr on your Android device.

Auto-play settings

To enable or disable auto-play on Android:

  1. Tap the account icon (the little human).
  2. Tap the gear wheel icon.
  3. Tap “Account settings”
  4. Tap “Media auto-play.” You can choose between never, only on WiFi, or always.

Messages & asks

To send a message or ask a question, press the speech bubble icon while viewing any blog. If the user hasn’t enabled asks or you haven’t been following them for more than 24 hours, the ask option won’t be there.

Post options

To access your post options, press the three dots in the upper right corner while making a post. From here you can add the post to your queue, save as a draft, make it private, or schedule the post. You can also select if who can reblog your post and who can Blaze it.

Fast reblog

To use the fast reblog function, press and hold the reblog icon on any post to select the blog you want to reblog to. The status indicator will disappear once the reblog is complete.

Downloading images

To share or download photos, press and hold any photo on your dashboard to download it to your phone or share it on a different app.

Logging out

To log out, if you must:

  1. Visit the account screen (the little human).
  2. Tap the settings gear, then “General settings.”
  3. Scroll to the bottom and press “Log Out.”

Switching to desktop view

To switch from mobile view to desktop view in your mobile browser (when using a device that doesn’t have the app), the process will depend on your web browser. For Chrome, tap the 3 dots menu and choose “Request Desktop Site.”
