like it’s practically become routine at this point. your classes tended to end much later than his, but soonyoung would very much rather not sulk in the middle of his dorm while waiting for you to come back. even in his sleep clothes, he’s still waiting at the bus stop, constantly glancing at his phone at the time, and definitely probably would curse under his breath if your bus arrives even a fraction of a second late.
your head laying against the glass of the bus jumps at the feeling of it coming to a stop. you finished an entire day of exams and labs and all you want to do is go to sleep and lay in soonyoung’s arms.
what you don’t expect to see is a particular figure leaning against the frame of the bus stop, arms crossed and eyes closed, legs sort-of endearingly manspreading on the bench. it’s soonyoung, you realise, and all you could do is chuckle to yourself as you step your way out of the bus and towards your sleeping boyfriend.
you lightly flick him on the forehead, causing him to wake up abruptly.
“hey, sleepyhead,” you remark teasingly, but the sight of your boyfriend’s sleepy eyes and adorable pout up at you makes your heart soften. “you didn’t wait that long, did you?”
“hmm, no…” soonyoung mutters while yawning, standing up and wrapping his arms around you, forcing you to press yourself up against him. he leans his head on your shoulder. “you’re finally here.”
“you don’t have to wait for me, you know,” you mumble into his grasp. “i’m always going to show up.”
“what if you don’t?” he asks, tone slightly panicky but nonetheless still fatigued from waiting. “what if the bus doesn’t shows up and you somehow end up hours away from me? what if you never come back?!”
“soonyoung, baby.” you chuckle, pulling back to cup his face into your hands. “i’m always going to come back to you, okay?”
soonyoung just stares at you, gaze all loving and affectionate, like he’s always marveled by the fact that you’re here in front of him–that you’re his just as much as he is yours.
“okay,” he mumbles cheesily, pressing a quick kiss to your lips. “that’s a promise.”
