Suspected sockpuppets

Les Golden is well known in his hometown of Oak Park, IL as a gadfly. For years he has been waging a campaign against the head of the park district to the point of arrest and conviction for trespassing. He is known to write and submit community press releases about himself under various women's names and then use those press releases as "source material" for at least one Wikipedia article on himself, entirely authored by DianeSteele (sock1) and Drlesmgolden (sock2). He has repeatedly made extensive and inappropriate edits to two articles on my watchlist, Del Close and Oak Park, Illinois, the latter which still requires considerable cleanup. I was surprised to see he had an article about him, not surprised to see he had written it, and when I questioned his notability on his article talk page, sock5 and sock6 appeared immediately with comments defending Mr. Golden. RexKingsley (sock3) has created pages for unverified projects headed by Mr. Golden-- Center for Computational Astrophysics and Near Earth Asteroid Reconnaissance Project for example-- and his interests and edits overlap those of the other socks. BopArtist (sock4) is new and is responsible for the creation of one page, mentioning, you guessed it, Les Golden. A search of "Les Golden" on Wikipedia will reveal the extent to with this individual is trying to insert himself throughout Wikipedia. •  Clerk note: Per this edit, JFMcKeown is Red X Unrelated. I don't anticipate a lot of disruption from that account, but relist if it does. — HelloAnnyong (say whaaat?!) 23:48, 1 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds like a duck quacking into a megaphone to me but maybe a CU could confirm that? Beeblebrox (talk) 16:21, 4 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  •  Clerk endorsed I've added another account I suspected to be connect, and I'm endorsing for confirmation and sleepers. — HelloAnnyong (say whaaat?!) 16:38, 4 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • information Administrator note Sorry, I'm overruling the CU on this one. Both accounts' first (and only) edits show a level of Wiki knowledge, i.e. using refs and undo. I've blocked and tagged both as suspected socks. — HelloAnnyong (say whaaat?!) 12:15, 5 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
    • Perhaps I wasn't clear, the results are purely technical. - Mailer Diablo 12:36, 5 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
If we are in agreement that despite the CU these are socks, then what of the puppeteer account, who was already blocked for two weeks for socking? Seems to me socking while blocked for socking usually gets you an indef block. I almost just did this myself from the getgo, but I assumed when these new socks were reviewed it would be a matter of course, given that they already got busted socking before and they are clearly intent on forcing promotional material about themselves onto Wikipedia. •  Clerk note: MD - yes, we know it's only technical, HA probally could have worded that a little better to say based on behavoiral. Beeblebrox - Usually blocks are extended your right, so i'm going on the classic baseball rule of 3 strikes your out. I've reset/extended to a month. -- DQ (t) (e) 04:47, 6 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
