I created this page with a description of what I understand add-on domains are - please correct it if I'm wrong. Thomas Ash 08:57, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I thought an add-on domain was something like this: next to www.domain.tld, also wiki.domain.tld and forum.domain.tld. I'm not sure though. 62.233.4.3 08:47, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think that's a subdomain. We could really use someone who knows for sure on this page though! Thomas Ash 09:49, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think what is said is right. To me it is a clear and complete description of what an addon domain is and what it does. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.241.1.247 (talk) 06:07, 2 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Talk:Add-on domain[edit]

To fully understand add-on domain, you must first understand parked domains. There are two types of parked domains: those that are parked on your registrar's server, and those that are parked on your host's server.

A registrar parked domain is used for generating advertising revenue only and has no content. It functions like a one-page website full of links. A domain parked on your host's server uses the content of your main domain by pointing to a subdomain. You must first designate a folder on your main domain as a subdomain in your control panel, then add your parked domain and point (redirect) it to that subdomain.
