Martin Sladecek (born 13 July 1978) is a Czech banking innovator and manager at Komerční banka. He is one of three initiators of the Czech republic's bank identity scheme Bank iD.
Early life and education[edit]
Sladecek was born on 13 July 1978 and studied at the Czech Technical University in Prague, where he earned a doctoral degree in systems engineering and he earned an Executive MBA at Quantic School of Business and Technology.
Career[edit]
Between 2017 and 2020, he started Open Banking at Komerční banka from scratch and achieved its innovative leadership[1] in the Czech banking market, such as:
- The first bank in the Czech Republic to offer clients multibanking in both internet and mobile banking[2]
- The first bank in the Czech Republic to offer multibanking for companies
- the first client service based on cooperation between a bank and a startup on the Czech market[3]
- the first bank on the Czech market to actively establish cooperation and partnerships with fintechs and startups[11]
- organized Europe's largest fintech hackathon in Prague[4] [5] [6]
In September 2020, he moved to the French entity of the parent company Société Générale, where he was responsible for digital strategic studies and contributed to the development of the digital strategy of Société Générale's French retail banking business. Upon his return to Komerční banka in 2023, he took over the position of Leader of Digital Strategy.
Together with Jan Blažek from ČSOB and Filip Haering from Česká spořitelna, he initiated the creation of the Czech bank identity. Bank iD, and all three of them participated in its creation within the working group of Czech banks.
He promotes banking innovation[7] [8], sustainable development[9] and electromobility and comments on the impact of technological developments.
He is a member of the committees for state doctoral degree examinations and dissertation defences approved by the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague.[10]
