Polar or Polarcita (also known as Pilsen) is a brand of beer produced inVenezuela by Cervecería Polar, a division of Empresas Polar. Polar Beer is a type of Pilsen and has an alcohol content of 2.7% by volume.

In 2002 it was decided to alter the logo for the first time since it was launched, and it was accompanied by an investment in advertising with well-known Venezuelan models such as the Chicas Polar, including Deisy Arvelo, Norkys Batista, Annarella Bono, Gaby Espino, Daniela Kosán, Norelys Rodríguez and Marjorie de Sousa, among others.

The brand symbol is a polar bear, with a mascot named Pedroso being created as an advertising and marketing strategy.

History

Between 1999 and 2002 there was a shift in the taste of Venezuelan consumers that caused Polar beer to no longer be the most consumed beer given the rise of light beers; but by 2008, Polar Light was able to reclaim consumer preference.
