Andy Lord, Commissioner of Transport for London, has that job and, in a long-awaited interview, chats with Paul about TfL, past, present, and future. One of the most interesting things about TfL, and something we're all going to have to think about, is they are getting significant revenue from congestion charges and ULEZ (ultra low emission zone) fees. These help TfL fund its own switch to zero emissions, but there's a catch isn't there? If these measures work as intended, the revenues will decrease over time. The same thing applies to agencies getting revenue from gas taxes. Fewer gas vehicles, less tax revenue. What does Andy think about this? The Land Transport Authority (LTA) Singapore’s world-leading public transport services are set to be enhanced by a cloud-based Bus Fleet Management System (BFMS) implemented by Trapeze Group. Building upon the existing Trapeze system, the new solution will manage around 5,800 buses across four operators and support the delivery of LTA’s franchise model. Trapeze’s Intelligent Transport System (ITS) is the core component of LTA’s BFMS. By transferring LTA’s system to the Government Commercial Cloud, the Trapeze solution improves the productivity of bus service controllers while keeping a high level of cybersecurity. The next-generation system uses enhanced analytic functionalities to continuously optimise models and produce even more accurate bus arrival-time predictions. This helps LTA and their operators to continue delivering connected and reliable journeys for Singapore’s residents and tourists. Marking an expansion into Italy, Trapeze was commissioned by AUTOGUIDOVIE, the private transport Operator in Pavia, south of Milan, to implement an ITCS solution using the pan-European standards ITxPT, VDV, GTFS and SIRI. Trapeze designed and implemented a fully managed service for introducing live loading including Back Office, Business Intelligence (BI) system, and three years of full-service maintenance for 318 vehicles.
