The APA LGBTQIAP+ Photography Grant is for emerging and established photographers who self-identify as LGBTQIAP+. This grant seeks to provide a much-needed financial contribution to photographers struggling to secure funding to complete their projects.

The purpose of our grants is to support and encourage visual storytellers to create a long-term documentary photography project with local communities who are working to protect the environment and wildlife. Vital Impacts will be awarding two $20,000(US) grants to support the development of a documentary project on the work of an environmental story over the course of twelve months. The grants are for two separate photographers working on two separate projects. The grants will fund visual stories that highlight solution based environmental initiatives. It is designed to give the recipients time, mentoring and intellectual freedom to produce a body of work over twelve months. The Vital Impacts team will provide mentorship and guidance to the recipients of the grant over the course of its implementation.

Each year Light Work invites 12-15 artists to participate in its residency program, including one artist co-sponsored by Autograph ABP, and two artists co-sponsored by the Darryl Chappel Foundation. Artists selected for the residency program are invited to live in Syracuse for one month. They receive a $5,000 stipend, an apartment to stay in, a private digital studio, a private darkroom, and 24-hour access to our facility.

For 80 years the duPont awards have set the standard for audio and video reporting, in broadcast, documentary and online.

The NDN Changemaker Fellowship is a two-year fellowship designed to invest ($150,000 USD) in the visions, leadership, and personal and professional development of 21 Indigenous Changemakers working in their communities.

The Satellite Fund, administered by SPACES and supported by The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, is an opportunity for Cuyahoga County artists, curators, and cultural producers to create a public visual art project in Cuyahoga County. This grant is not only for established visual artists in the community, but also for emerging artists, creative professionals, and any Cuyahoga County resident with a strong vision and demonstrated ability to complete the proposed project. The scope is purposefully broad; we want this opportunity to be as accessible and far-reaching as possible to ensure we represent Cuyahoga County to the fullest.

In addition to financial support, SPACES will provide access to our on-site artist workshops that is outfitted with tools and equipment to facilitate the production process. SPACES’ Artist Initiatives Coordinator will also assist grantees in securing a public display space (outside of SPACES) in Cuyahoga County. Additionally, awardees will receive a one-year SPACES Artist level Membership, which gives free access to networking and artist professional development opportunities throughout the year.

This intensive, hands-on and immersive visual workshop will be beneficial to photographers of all levels looking to dive into the ins and outs of long form visual storytelling, while developing their own personal and long-term projects.

Close-up Photographer of the Year (CUPOTY) is an annual competition revealing the hidden wonder of the world through close-up, macro and micro photography.

Loghaven Artist Residency’s mission is to serve artists by providing them with a transformative residency experience and continued post-residency support. The residency is located on ninety acres of woodland in Knoxville, Tennessee. Artists live in five historic log cabins that have been both rehabilitated and modernized to create an ideal setting for reflection and work, and they have access to new, purpose-built studio space. All Loghaven Fellows are awarded stipends to support the creation of new work during the residency.

The Royal Photographic Society in partnership with The Photographic Angle is offering a 1-year bursary to support a photographic project that will promote environmental awareness.  Applications are invited from anyone living or studying in the United Kingdom with a talent for taking photographs and an interest in the environmental concerns that we face today.

The bursary will provide £4000 to assist with travel expenses, photographic equipment and other project-related costs. We are looking for a creative interpretation of the subject as well as documentary and editorial photography.

Budapest International Foto Awards is an international platform for photographers from all levels and genres to share their best images with the creative community in Hungary and Eastern Europe. We acknowledge the power of even a single photograph to greatly influence an audience, and how the artistic eye of the photographer behind the camera can interpret a scene in so many creative ways.

For issue 3, we invite African Photographers to explore the theme Joy! by submitting a body of work that represents what this word means to you. We define joy as ‘a feeling of great pleasure or happiness’. We encourage submissions that think outside of the box with this theme — allow your creativity to lead your visual storytelling journey.

SPACES offers project-based support through The Urgent Art Fund to Cuyahoga County artists, supported by Cuyahoga Arts & Culture. This support may go toward production expenses and artist commissions for the creation of “urgent art” that is socially, politically, or culturally responsive. We are designating funds specifically for such projects taking place in the public realm, helping artists immediately engage their community in dialogue about the most pressing issues.

The AAAS Science Journalism Awards have honored professional journalists for distinguished reporting on the sciences, engineering, and mathematics.

The Photographic Angle regularly runs photographic competitions which are open and accessible to everyone, regardless of their location, ability, experience, equipment or age. Each competition has a theme, chosen by our Head of Design, and we welcome submissions that illustrate this theme showcasing originality and a unique viewpoint. The competitions are free to enter and TPA enlists the help of an independent judge who is given the responsibility of selecting the winning entries. One photographer whose entry is deemed the best representation of the competition theme will be awarded a prize.

The Carmignac Photojournalism Award funds annually the production of an investigative photo reportage on human rights violations.

The current call for submissions for the 15th edition of the Carmignac Photojournalism Award seeks proposals that focus on Southeast Asia, highlighting human and environmental rights violations caused by illegal fishing and overfishing.

Selected by an international jury, the laureates will receive a €50,000 grant to carry out a 9-month field report with the support of the Fondation Carmignac, which will then be showcased in a traveling exhibition and a dedicated website.

Rooted in the heart of the mountain west, the Big Sky Film Institute nurtures and elevates non-fiction films that have the power to transform our world, our culture, our youth and ourselves. A non-profit artist development institute, BSFI is the home of the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival in Missoula, Montana. Our goal is to bring stories from around the world to our beautiful mountain town, support the people who create documentary film, create vibrant events that gather our engaged community, and expand knowledge and conversation around issues that matter.

Prism Photo Workshop is offering a $1000 scholarship to a high school or college student interested in pursuing photojournalism as a career. The winner will be selected based on a portfolio of up to 10 work samples and a short essay.   Applicants must have at least one year of school left to complete and be a resident of Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry or Will County in Illinois or Lake County, Indiana.

Each year the Ian Parry Memorial Fund holds an international photographic competition for young photographers who are 24 or under, or undertaking a full-time photographic course.

The Lucie Foundation is proud to support professional and emerging talent with vision and dynamic ideas that challenge and progress the art form of still photography into work that compels. Our support of photography is broad, from Fine Art to Documentary and Photojournalism, to digital and film-based works. Our concern is to support photographers producing work that is at once gripping, and original. The Lucie Foundation is proud to offer four cash grants and a variety of prizes to support the work of emerging and established photographers.

The Recology San Francisco Artist in Residence (AIR) Program is an art and education initiative that awards Bay Area artists access to discarded materials, an unrestricted stipend, and an individual studio space. These resources, along with comprehensive support, are provided to artists while they create a body of work and host studio visits during their four-month residency.

The FotoEvidence Women Award is devoted to engaged women photographers who want to tell their personal stories in the form of a photo book.

The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Fellowship Program is a vital source of funding for the visual arts and art history in Virginia. VMFA is committed to supporting professional artists as well as art and art history students who demonstrate exceptional creative ability in their chosen discipline and, as such, has awarded nearly $6 million in Fellowships to Virginians. The Fellowship Program was established in 1940 through a generous contribution made by the late John Lee Pratt of Fredericksburg. 2024 marks the 84th anniversary! Offered through VMFA Statewide, Fellowships are still largely funded through the Pratt endowment, supplemented by the J. Warwick McClintic Jr. Scholarship Fund.

Created in 1993 to further FCA's mission to encourage, sponsor, and promote work of a contemporary, experimental nature, Emergency Grants provide urgent funding for visual and performing artists who: - Have sudden, unanticipated opportunities to present their work to the public when there is insufficient time to seek other sources of funding - Incur unexpected or unbudgeted expenses for projects close to completion with committed exhibition or performance dates

EMOP Berlin – European Month of Photography is the largest biennial festival of photographic images in Germany. Museums, exhibition institutions, memorials, archives, libraries, collections, cultural institutes, universities, art academies and other training locations, municipal and private galleries and project spaces from Berlin and Potsdam are - together with the exhibiting artists - the key players in this open festival format.
