Ludwigshafen is the heart of BASF! With an area of 10 square kilometers it is by far our largest production site and the center of our global R&D activities. It is our powerhouse! Also in the future. And we make it strong. We continuously invest around € 2 billion a year here, maintaining, modernizing and expanding. More than anywhere else in the world. And Ludwigshafen is constantly evolving. It has always done so. Because our environment is changing as well. Yes, we are closing some uncompetitive, energy-intensive assets. But we are also investing in modern, profitable new plants and technologies. Chemical high-tech is being created here. We are expanding the vitamin A verbund and extending the citral value chain with two brand new plants. We are building the new Biohub, a plant based on state-of-the-art fermentation technology. And we are investing in transformation projects such as the first electrically heated cracker ovens (eFurnaces), water electrolysis and we are planning to build a solar park. We are investing hundreds of millions of euros to modernize our infrastructure. All of this will only work with the formidable power of our employees. Thank you to the teams that I have been able to visit here in recent weeks - from the control room to logistics to the apprentices. We have fantastic people here, the best people to successfully shape a positive future for Ludwigshafen together! I can't imagine a successful BASF without a successful Ludwigshafen. It is a core element of our green transformation. That is why we need to make the site competitive in the long term. This will require adaptations again. With a long-term target picture and a whole bundle of measures that we are currently working on. This will increase the profitability of the main plant. Diese fünf Lausitzer haben Köpfchen und Herz bewiesen: Xenia Nickus, Johannes Donath, Jenny Konieczny, Felix Paul Hillmann und Fine Ludewig halten dieser Tage stolz ihre Abiturzeugnisse in den Händen und können sich über die Auszeichnung der Dehmel-Stiftung freuen. Für ihr außergewöhnliches schulisches wie ehrenamtliches Engagement erhielten die Abiturienten ein Studienstipendium. Seit ihrer Gründung im Jahr 2000 hat die Dehmel-Stiftung bereits mehr als 80 Lausitzer Abiturientinnen und Abiturienten mit einem Stipendium ausgezeichnet. Die Förderung beträgt insgesamt 3.000 Euro verteilt über die ersten drei Studienjahre. Am 5. Juni wurden die Stipendien an die angehenden Studierenden in einer Feierstunde im Kulturhaus der #BASFschwarzheide übergeben. #Engagement

Der nächste Meilenstein beim Aufbau des standortweiten 5G-Campusnetzes der #BASFschwarzheide ist geschafft! In den zurückliegenden Monaten wurde die notwendige Infrastruktur ausgebaut und an ausgewählten Standorten im Werk sechs Antennenmasten errichtet. Bei diesem Projekt arbeitet #BASFschwarzheide mit Vodafone zusammen. In den nächsten Monaten werden schrittweise einzelne Anwendungen in unser 5G-Campusnetz aufgenommen. Dazu gehören beispielsweise kabellose Sensoren oder 5G-Kameraanwendungen. Mit dem Aufbau eines lokalen 5G-Campusnetzes nimmt der Lausitzer Produktionsstandort eine Vorreiterrolle in der europäischen Prozessindustrie ein. Lesen Sie hierzu mehr in unserer Presseinformation.

Was für ein Ei-Catcher! Vor der barocken Kulisse des Pillnitzer Schlosses ziehen zwei knallrote Garten-Eier die Blicke der Besucher auf sich. Die Möbelstücke aus Polyurethan sind Teil der neuen Ausstellung „PURe Visionen im Kunstgewerbe-Museum der Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden. Die Ausstellung Visionen. Kunststoffmöbel zwischen Ost und West“ beleuchtet die deutsch-deutsche Geschichte von Polyurethan (PUR) als besonderen Möbel-Werkstoff.  #BASFschwarzheide unterstützte das Projekt sowohl finanziell als auch ideell und setze mit Informationen und Medien aus dem werkseigenen Unternehmensarchiv wichtige Impulse für die umfassende Design-Schau. Darüber hinaus stellte der Standort #BASFlemförde thermoplastisches #Polyurethan zur Verfügung. Im 3-D-Druckverfahren wurde dieses zu neuartigen Sitzmöbeln verarbeitet. In den 1960er und 1970er Jahren galt PUR als Material einer neuen, visionären Moderne. Von Känguru- über Z-Stuhl bis hin zum Garten-Ei – es wurden Möbel in neuartigen Formen und auffälligen Farben gestaltet, die in eigens entwickelte Verfahren rasch und in hoher Stückzahl produziert werden konnten. Die Schau gibt Aufschluss, wie die Möbelherstellung mit Polyurethan in der BRD und DDR ausgebaut wurde, wer die Entwürfe lieferte und welche Rolle die Politik dabei spielte.
