Can we also talk bout how Lestat absolutely did NOT have this kind of feelings or thoughts of his mother as a human.. ever?? It's why he stops calling her mother and starts calling her Gabrielle when they are vampires.. this whole scene is meant to depict how vampires are different species and once they are turned all the human perceptions of preconceived human notions of blood relations, age, gender and any other taboo is literally gone... their relationships turn into smth different and completely vampire. A vampire literally represents breaking out of any human moulds and taboos and rules. The transformation is the key. So no.. technically Lestat did not have incest with his mother, because she was not his mother any more. His mother died. She was now Gabrielle, his vampire fledgeling and companion... it's just that modern day readers can't stop thinking of these vampires as humans.
Look, if I turned into a zombie and my mom turned into a zombie and the zombies fucked that would still be fucked up, you know.
People know it’s fucked up. The vampires just have a different way of thinking king to us. (Doesn’t Twilight have vampires that are related (implied) fuck also, the twins, or is that something I read in fanfic?)
It’s fiction. Everyone who reads this should realize it and know how fucked up it is. It makes you take a second look and then just think that it’s messed up but you go on and finish the book or put it down.
