Grant to enhance the gadget

[edit]

I just requested a rapid grant to enhance the gadget. Please feel free to add any comments, questions, ideas and endorsements, thanks! --Sophivorus (talk) 17:03, 4 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

Why do slideshow links appear in Help: namespaces? --BEANS X2 (talk) 16:25, 12 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@BEANS X2: Good question, I don't know, but I don't think this talk page is the best place to ask. I'd try the village pump and link to this page as an example, cheers! Sophivorus (talk) 10:58, 15 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Sophivorus: Thanks, I don't know why I posted it here. --BEANS X2 (talk) 11:00, 15 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Normalize Everything

[edit]

There is a button marked "Normalize everything", the function of which is not documented. What does this button do? Epolk (talk) 11:21, 14 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It basically "tidies up" all the references in the page. Sophivorus (talk) 21:51, 12 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Pls add a "Provelt-for-Idiods Guide"

[edit]

Phabricator, hi. I didn't understand ANYTHING, it's written by programmers for programmers; they are essential for the behind-the-scenes universe, but Wiki lives from "idiots" who know something about something and nothing about programming. Provelt will remain largely useless (as in: not adopted by the vast majority of editors) if there isn't a "wizard for idiots" which takes you by the hand, black-box type: you throw in the title & author, and it spits out the complete ref. Full stop. Thanks & keep up the good work, Arminden (talk) 20:15, 27 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Enabled here?

[edit]

I cannot see ProveIt in my Preferences/Gadgets, even though the following line is in MediaWiki:Gadgets-definition:

  • ProveIt [ResourceLoader|dependencies=mediawiki.api,jquery.cookie,jquery.textSelection,jquery.ui|hidden]|ProveIt.js|ProveIt.css

Is it because of the "hidden" option? A455bcd9 (talk) 08:22, 11 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@A455bcd9 Yes, Proveit is defined because other wikis load it from Commons (example). However there was no discussion and therefore no consensus to enable it in Commons, so it's hidden. Cheers! Sophivorus (talk) 21:49, 12 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks @Sophivorus: would it make sense to start such a discussion? Or should we enable citoid here instead? A455bcd9 (talk) 21:50, 12 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@A455bcd9 Are references used much in Commons? I'm not very involved in Commons so I'm not sure, but if you think Proveit could be useful, then probably others will agree. Kind regards, Sophivorus (talk) 21:55, 12 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Sophivorus: references are often used on Commons:
I assume they would be used even more often if a citation gadget were available. Where should I start a discussion about this? A455bcd9 (talk) 09:41, 13 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@A455bcd9 I guess at Commons:Village pump/Proposals? Sophivorus (talk) 11:51, 13 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Sophivorus: ✓ Done: Commons:Village_pump/Proposals#Enable_ProveIt_or_Citoid_on_Commons. Thanks! A455bcd9 (talk) 12:24, 13 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
