With our team of experienced and highly knowledgeable technicians, Paladin Technologies was responsible for the hospital's entire low voltage system, with our data center controlling all of the hospital's network, security and even access control. In honor of national safety month, meet Callum, our Director of Occupational Health and Safety as the special Subject Matter Expert for this month! Callum first obtained a Law degree in the UK in 2012 and worked for various industries before immigrating to Canada and eventually coming to Paladin Technologies in 2021. He attributes his legal background as his greatest strength, helping him to interpret health and safety legislative requirements and effectively implementing strategic health and safety initiatives across North America. With his over decade experience in the field, Callum’s favorite aspect of the job is being able to work with numerous teams at Paladin, collaborating on health and safety decision-making and sharing the success together. Here are his top 5 tips to his current success! 1️⃣ Alignment with organizational values // A methodology for managing health and safety that works for one company likely wont work for another. Aligning strategies and initiatives with your employer’s core values will increase their effectiveness and rate of success. 2️⃣ Empower others // Instill a culture where ‘safety is everyone’s responsibility’, not the responsibility of a select few persons. Develop tools and resources to aid colleagues in fulfilling their health and health and safety responsibilities. Provide training and guidance to colleagues to build organizational competency for health and safety. 3️⃣ Diversify your skillset // Health and safety management shares common aspects with other compliance-based professions including environmental, quality control, corporate social responsibility, and workers compensation. Grow your knowledge in these areas to increase your overall effectiveness and value. 4️⃣ Build relationships // Success in health and safety management cannot be achieved without the support of your fellow employees. Identify common objectives and build strategic relationships with other departments to succeed together. 5️⃣ Prioritize your workload // Identify your key deliverables each day, select those that are most time-sensitive or business-critical, and initiate them in priority order.
