We face a challenging battle in securing the right support for our mental health program, EmbraceHER. It is more crucial than ever for individuals to step forward and recognize the significance of aiding girls who endure emotional abuse, struggle to articulate their feelings due to neglect at home, and face systemic racism in their job pursuits while maintaining a facade of normalcy throughout their days. Mental health poses a very real concern, particularly for our girls, yet it remains a subdued topic, with Canada not allocating adequate funding for our minority girls. Day in and day out, social media assumes the role of educator for our girls, consuming significant amounts of their time, resulting in declining academic performance and schools graduating students in need. We must be the agents of change. These young individuals are our future doctors, lawyers, entrepreneurs, and more, but as emotions become entangled, rational thinking diminishes, potentially leading them to mimic past behaviors witnessed at home. During this month of mental health awareness, initiate conversations with your children and educate yourself on how mental health impacts our girls and their futures.
