Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:25.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/25.0 (Beta/Release)
Build ID: 20131025151332

Steps to reproduce:

(Similar to 394984 but on Linux, not Mac, different files). I have a two user (well 3 actually) system with users A and B. A installed Firefox non-root (this system several software add-ons installed non-root). When user B is logged in using Firefox, and update from 24.0 to 25.0 came in. The update failed to install. Logged out and logged in as user A and update still would not install. Problem found by an strace is that /tmp/MozUpdater/ was owned by user B. So A could not use B's /tmp/MozUpdater and neither could B (as expected) update A's install. Logged in a root, deleted /tmp/MozUpdater, then user A was able to update Firefox.
