Follow-up to Bug 1768890. It's probably possible to test this functionality using a Marionette test like test_refresh_firefox.py, but it's not easy because a good deal of the update-specific test mechanics would need to be ported from the xpcshell testing harnesses in toolkit/mozapps/update/tests/data.
